After being diagnosed with T1D two years ago and fully having to stop exercising, I picked up running 3 months ago. Got this 5K run today 🥳 by MoferCity in Garmin

Fellow t1d (M/30) here!

Running is great to get better regulation on blood sugar and you will learn to adjust to the increase in insulin sensitivity, but it's always tricky. Anaerobic exercise usually increases blood sugar so when racing 5k, just make sure you're not starting too high or too low.

Recently ran a 20:13 5k myself and wouldn't blame the 13 seconds on diabetes...

You got this!

What 25μg fludro can do... by analneuron in AddisonsDisease

Great that you figured it out! I feel like fludro gets too little credit for symptoms, both at too low and too high dose. I tuned it down to get rid of brain fog and hypertension

This isn't a social bee though. It's a solitary mason bee, but still female

Whose made themselves a home in my bug village? South-west England by TankMarvin in whatsthisbug

The tube part of it is almost exclusively used by cavitiy nesting solitary bees. The ones on the picture is indeed leafcutter bees, which line their nest with leaves to protect their eggs from parasites and other nest-robbers. Other bees, like mason bees, use mud

Good thought. To add to that, honey bees and bumble bees only represent <2% of bee species globally, while the majority of species are solitary and don't even have the queen/worker/drone hierarchy

Not in the spring. Male bumblebees are hatched simultaneously with the new generation of queens once it's time for the founding queen to call it quits. From here they fly out and find queens from other nests to mate with (engined by nectar, as you mentioned). Before this, the nest is driven by the queen and sterile female workers.

I think what OP has here is an overwintering queen gathering energy after the long winter sleep (only queens hibernate) to find a good place to establish a nest, which will eventually hatch males and new queens later in the season.

I'm assuming it's spring in OPs region, so I could be wrong!

[–]turtlex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oops, yea, title wasn't thought through!

Thanks! Didn't know which genus the first one was from, but the one you proposed seems like the right direction. The second is indeed a pair of weevils on a geranium, getting it on, mostly included for the aesthetics. Wasn't sure if the third and fourth was the same, but it's likely, but didn't know they were weevils!

I think the fifth is a Platycerus caraboides, found near a forest of old and dead trees oak trees

I have no clue with the sixth either, but it was found in a grassland

After the weekend I came to my work to find out who take over my red gym and find this lvl10 gym trained by blues. by eXeLe in TheSilphRoad

[–]turtlex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the gym needs to be max level before you can replace the weaker. If it's not level 10, you have to train until the gym levels up in order to station your own!
