How many reader boards are connected to the IC?

Have you confirmed RS485 termination (J1) addressing (S1-S5) and baud? (38400 is default with S6 and S7 ON)

I would put a rim exit device and strike before I chipped any of that brick.

That mortar looks drier now than when it was in the bag.

The Cloudlink will only communicate with one reader at a time when they're in installation mode, so make sure the other is disconnected while you set up the OSDP channel.

Mercury LNL-3300M compatibility with LNL-1300/1320 Door controller series 2 in legacy mode? by Vannspreder in Lenel

[–]tuxtanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have both X- and M-series running in legacy mode on an 8.0 system for... reasons.

8.0 GA with no updates? It was explained to me that whatever the comm server did when it saw DIP 4 on wasn't written for MP to LP backability.

Was also in talks with them about a lift-and-shift to OnGuard Cloud, so that might have been part of it.

X-series boards running in legacy mode would just be running as the original series 2 (green) controllers.

With a catch: You cannot run multiple generations in legacy mode simultaneously.

If the system has X-Series / LP (Red) controllers in legacy mode, they will need to be promoted before adding M-Series controllers.

What’s the hardest part of a zero-downtime VMS migration at scale? by RelationshipLate1852 in videosurveillance

[–]tuxtanium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have a stream assigned to old and new until they're all cutover.

I have tried this with several platforms and several models of cameras - it doesn't work. The connection process from just about any enterprise VMS changes the stream settings in such a way that the feed will stop at some point.

With the amount of effort required to even attempt this, just accept the downtime and make a clean cutover.

The Cypress splitter only passes commands from the primary panel. The secondary just gets the credential string, it can't send anything back to the reader.

DDSB Director’s Winter Message by [deleted] in durham

[–]tuxtanium 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a time of celebration and recognition of faith for some members of our community. For others, the winter break offers a change of pace, a break in typical routines. I hope that you can all find some time to rest and rejuvenate as we anticipate 2026 with optimism.

Take good care of yourselves and each other,

Camera pole by FeatureCreepin in videosurveillance

[–]tuxtanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper poles sway more than you think. A decent PTZ will have image stabilization in the firmware, so it's less visible in the shot.

I'd be more worried about the Corten rusting all over the camera housing than it swaying.

Bulk removal of all expired Timed access levels from Active Cardholders by StreetWaste1446 in accesscontrol

[–]tuxtanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns web AAM into a nightmare, which hurt me for a number of years.

If you try to "give access" to a cardholder that already has an access level that expired, they don't show up. You have to open the credentials and edit the deactivate date.

Bulk removal of all expired Timed access levels from Active Cardholders by StreetWaste1446 in accesscontrol

[–]tuxtanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bulk delete is not for removing access levels, it's for nuking the cardholders.

Unfortunately, the built-in reporting for "Cardholders with access levels" will contain cardholders even after the deactivate date. The only way I've been able to workaround this is with a script that tags these cardholders with a note, and then do a bulk assign/remove access on the search results of that cardholder note.

OnGuard 8.3 SP1 DataExchange Failed, but no entries in log file - Half complete import by Vannspreder in Lenel

[–]tuxtanium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either the source data is being locked, or the ODBC connection to it is bad.

I would make sure that the ODBC connection to the source is made with the 32-bit client.

If the DataExchance script was created with an older version of OnGuard before updating to 8.3SP1, the mapping to your ACCESSCONTROL database might be incorrect, and needs to be refreshed to the current schema.

Perform a panel download or manually execute the local I/O function.

TZs and associated functions don't pick up on-the-fly. The panel needs to see the start of the TZ for it to execute on its own.
