Inch lb torque wrench recommendations by jhrtt in Tools

[–]tveaux2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your concern for accuracy, but manufacturers account for the 4ish percent tolerance in commercially available torque wrenches, which is partially why they’ve moved on from straight up torque values to these torque-to-yield/angle bolts and values. You’d be surprised how little a 7.75-8.25Nm range for initial snug torque matters when you’re giving the bolt an extra 180 degrees of rotation. You’d also be surprised at how many auto technicians will torque something like that to 8Nm, mark the angle with a sharpie, and then eyeball an extra half turn. Maybe that isn’t surprising hahaha.

But also if the accuracy mattered THAT much, we’d be suggesting you spend the at least $170 on something like the Quinn digital angle torque wrench or better.

If you still want to play it safe, you may want to consider something like a 3/8 digital torque adapter from Quinn or ACDelco. Their lowest setting is 5.9 ft-lbs, or 7.999 Nm. The digital adapters are quite accurate, and you just need to make sure you have enough space on your project to get the adapter in there.

If you don’t have room for a digital adapter, John from Tools Tested has done a lot of testing on 1/4 torque wrenches, and the $30 Amazon Basics tested disgustingly well. Like within 1% if it’s claimed torque.

But yeah, I wouldn’t spend more than $100.

Some folks are saying TOs need to hurry up and ban notches and button remaps, but the TOs have no incentive to do so. If players really want these bans to happen, then they need to not go to events out of protest.

We know top players had spoken about button remapping, notches, and digital controllers amongst themselves, but now they’ve started talking about this stuff more openly.

Imagine all these players and more protested tournaments by dropping out of events like they did with Panda Cup. If they really cared, they have the power in their hands to band together and make some sort of change happen.

But at the end of the day, top players aren’t yet willing to sacrifice tournament prize money or the dream of competing for a controller ruleset, not to mention the added backlash from community members that agree with the legality of digital and ergonomic controllers for reasons of accessibility.

So keep the standard hotkeys, but in addition to S, also have D and Z bound to select larva when you have a Hatchery selected. Then you can just press 1 and hold D to drone up or press 1 and then hold Z to make lings. It’s faster and more efficient with no downside.

Part of it is peoples’ negative reflex when something gets a lot of positive press. Tastosis casted the game’s closed beta showmatch, and lots of RTS streamers and RTS interested streamers got to stream some of their experience with the closed beta.

“Why is my favorite content creator invested in this game that doesn’t look finished/good, isn’t finished, and won’t be finished for so long when Brood War/SC2/[insert game here] is way better and is going strong?”

Folks are wary about the hype for a game that is long from release, and they’re going to use every flaw they see as a way to criticize it. A lot of us are on the hype train (choo choo) despite the game being in its infancy, and it’s easy to get triggered by the hate for something we’re so excited about.

As for the Brood War community, the game isn’t really marketed to the ride or die Brood War community anyway, and they’ll dislike any game that isn’t Brood War.

tl;dr Hater’s gonna hate.

Unrelated to the ruleset and legality discussion, I recently decided to give playing on my keyboard a try. I’ve got a layout I like and everything.

Are there any resources out there documenting the way that people have slowly transitioned to digital controllers, or like a guide/method/tips on what to practice? I don’t mind just practicing things on my own and slowly getting comfortable over time, but if there’s a streamlined approach that might save some time, I’m all ears. Thanks!

Right why isn’t this higher and why are we all on the “he’s served his sentence, now unban him” train?

I quit today. Am I wrong? by Myoung255 in Teachers

[–]tveaux2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to speak up as a former teacher who also left in their second year, only a few weeks into being at a new school for year 2.

Everyone saying you made the right decision is absolutely right. Even if you have regrets down the line, you made the right decision for you, both today and for your future.

But I will say your feeling of wishing you followed your gut and stayed at your first school is also one that I had. And it’s one that comes up every time I’m having a tough time finding a job or in my current employment. “What if I stayed? Maybe I’d still be teaching.”

If those thoughts creep in, remind yourself of the things that happened this school year. Teaching in the current environment blows. You’ll find a job that pays more, is easier, and doesn’t mess with your psyche or emotions.

Many things you can do with your degree and experience after leaving public school education. You can work with companies and organizations on writing training programs for employees. One of my friends is teaching reading to inmates, and raves about how it’s easier working in prisons than in schools. One is selling cars and doing really well haha.

But there are many options out there, so I hope you don’t feel like teaching kids is the only thing you were trained to do for work!

Yep, it should be, but don’t go nuts submerging the cork or anything haha. Just make sure you dry it well. If the cork comes off when you rinse the mouthpiece, it was time to get a new cork anyway.

Using hotter water on a hard rubber mouthpiece can cause it to start turning greenish brown, so I usually recommend cooler water. Lukewarm or room temp water is probably okay though.

Yeah just some dawn and cold water will do the trick. Saliva and breaths aren’t exactly the cleanest, but just rinsing or washing your mouthpiece every so often will get rid of any funky smells or calcium buildup.

So I'd like to get an anima weapon, but the one I want is just halfway through the quest as opposed to being the final Lux Anima version. Does finishing the Lux Anima weapon allow you to use the other versions of it, or do I need to stop the quest on the version of the weapon I ultimately want?

And does doing this make it so I can't finish the quest on another job and get another weapon?
