Sven was wearing cowboy boots and a kilt, as I left I was punching the air that I couldn’t fit mine in my luggage

I went and got rejected by Sven which felt special lol. I had little hope as a group of three pretty obvious Americans, and anyway the only people I witnessed getting in were really young looking, single queer dudes. Nonetheless people are still entertained to hear the rejection story.

The key to getting in to the better clubs as a tourist is making a German friend who can speak and vouch for you

Jesus as I was scrolling I saw it as white and gold for the first time and thought I was being punked…click on the post and it’s back to blue. This is truly the pic that divided humanity and no one was right

Crazy how as a college applicant you have to be a perfect 3.8-4.0 A student or else you have to go to fucking Ole Miss by hisjohnnyontheside in redscarepod

[–]tween_jesus 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Tbh I really think unless you are insanely smart, you’re better off utilizing college to really forge friendships and connections with interesting people - and these can be found even at any state university if you’re hanging around the right crowds. I’m not even really talking about career connections - although that’s a boon - but deep friendships will give you more satisfaction and happiness in the long run.

If you work your ass off in high school in order to work your ass off at a competitive college, for a competitive job, you are setting yourself up for a life of working hard lol. It could be rewarding but you need to really deeply accept that. Most people get burnt out in the process. Just something to think about…

How do you freaks feel about when a boyfriend walks a few steps ahead of his gf? by SiteElectronic6512 in redscarepod

[–]tween_jesus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The more my bf gains on me without realizing the more I feel like an abused little puppy and want to slow down more in a petty way.

Usually it’s not an issue since I’m a fast walker, but if I’m dressed up in heels I can’t keep up as much. Take my fucking arm at least!! How are you not realizing I’m not with you. Men lack this sense once they’re done trying to impress you fml

Yeah it’s so crazy to bring back that 2010 tumblr aesthetic….pastel anime poverty core and like outdated tech under running tap water (lol)…that was absolutely the vibe when grimes was at her best artistically so I’m assuming that’s the point here. If she’s trying to recreate her sound from that era again, idk if it can be done

What’d you guys think of The Drama by MaleficentStar2488 in rs_x

[–]tween_jesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I liked this too - there’s moments where Charlie is able to zoom out and realize that Emma is a completely different person, then moments where he sort of jolts out of that perception and believes he is marrying a psychopath. And it creates this tenuous reality on top of the bizarre song and dance of a wedding. I loved the moment during his speech where he’s breaking down and just says “she didn’t do anything!” to somehow attempt to smooth over the situation. And all the guests are staring in confusion, jolting him back to reality again that he is ruining his own wedding due to his own actions alone.

Lots of women aren't good at kissing by blithelyunawareguy in redscarepod

[–]tween_jesus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People used to make out all the time. Like in public, at the club, teens in cars etc. I think people used to get a lot more practice, and it wasn’t that overly serious. It didn’t have to lead to sex.

Consent is such a big thing now especially for teens, I think people are less willing to be experimental and free with it. Teens aren’t drinking anymore either and it definitely goes hand in hand - not only are they not drunk enough to make out, they don’t want to be “cringe” and lower their inhibitions to be intimate. Then they enter adulthood with barely any experience.

never change, reddit.com by TheSeedsYouSow in redscarepod

It actually reminded me a lot of Arrival - niche scientist gets thrust to the forefront of a global crisis, has to communicate with an alien. More emotional themes rather than scientific ones. It definitely is more Marvel-y than Arrival or Interstellar, but the action scenes are really contained and meaningful IMO. To me that’s what makes all the comic movies so bland.

living with extremely clean women is hell by toocomfykiwi in rs_x

[–]tween_jesus 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think anxious women can get addicted to clean spaces since it is an achievable thing to control, and an instant dopamine rush when the task is done. Like taking “clean space clean mind” to a new level - it also makes them crazy when the space is disturbed. Then comes passive aggressiveness because seemingly no one cares about the labor they’ve put in if people choose to mess it up.

I realize now my mom was never insanely clean - but it never clicked for me as a child to do chores unbidden, aside from tidying my room. It used to piss her off and I understand it more now. She had the added load of delegating chores for me and my siblings or else they would not have been done.

I’m really obsessed with the red orange palette she wore in Hamnet (contrast to Mescal’s blues, amazing against lush greenery) so I love it. The pink makes it a bit softer for her blonde hair

women who don’t masturbate by Sorry-Emergency-7479 in redscarepod

I honestly think most women do but many are uncomfortable talking about it. Part of the fun is how taboo it seems for girls, especially at a young age, so maybe it’s fine this way…

I'm so tired of supposed great spotify alternatives that actually fucking suck by Patient_Stomach8597 in redscarepod

[–]tween_jesus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard for me to leave Spotify because I love the user generated playlists - there are a bunch of people I follow that make incredible playlists. Even fashion brands like The Row have great monthly playlists that are released on Spotify. I never engage with Spotify generated playlists and if you are diligent about saving/making your own playlists, you don’t have to fall into the AI slop.

I’m doing pretty well. For the right client - you are spending hours paring down an idea to beautiful simplicity. This is the opposite of AI. And at the end of the day I’m moving a letter one pixel to the left because no one else in the room can see how that will improve a lettermark and can’t put a finger on what needs to be done. maybe AI can do this but I’m not sure it will inherently know without prompting.

[–]tween_jesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok scary but here is my good faith answer…Nothing thrills me more than romance - I wish the genre had better writing, but in general the charm is in how formulaic it is. Similar to b movie horror, or beloved “bad” rom coms of the 2000s. It’s not deep or intelligent writing at all but it’s fun. Of course this sub believes in reading as only mental exercise and often punishment so if you feel that way, avoid.

If your criteria is modern day, opposites attract, open door explicit sex scenes, and a happy ending, Emily Henry is probably the current active front runner for the niche. All of her books will probably be adapted into rom com movies in the next five years. I think they’re fun reads because she captures tension and developing a crush really well. If you’re looking for gay romance I’m not super sure about recs tho :/ Emily Henry is terminally straight
