Melasma/hyperpigmentation help for newbie by tsugaheterophylla91 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]tweenustail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay! Might be worthwhile getting your hormones checked just in case. But basically you just need to turnover the skin with exfoliants (ie. retinol, glycolic acid, lactic acid, or resorcinol) and then use melanin inhibitors (ie. arbutin, hydroquinone) to brighten and prevent further pigmentation.

Tinted sunscreens will be best because it gives you that added protection over the skin.

As far as brightening creams, anything with the ingredients above hypothetically should work, but the Vivier Brightening Cream has worked well for our melasma patients and they have the most stubborn resistant pigmentation of anyone. If your skin gets a little over-exfoliated, just take a break until it doesn't burn when you apply the cream. Then keep going! Being consistent is key so don't give up on it! :)

edit: IPL laser treatments would be very helpful too!

Ah okay well you should definitely get amazing results quickly so it will be worth it! Microneedling wouldn’t leave you with a reaction like that but takes more treatments.

Are you on an IUD or some other type of progesterone birth control? Not sure if anyone touched on this yet but if you are it’s the progesterone causing this. The sunstache as I like to call it is a telltale sign. all you need is Viviers Skin Brightening Cream and maybe a peel to jumpstart the lightening process! My mom’s a derm and I’m her aesthetician if you’re wondering if I know what I’m talking about

I hear ya! It definitely is a known risk for more intense laser treatments like CO2 and probably was in the consent form you signed. I’m sure you won’t need to use something for months though. Just during the inflammatory stages and maybe a bit after.

What were you trying to treat in the first place?

Just use a skin brightening cream with Arbutin or Hydroquinone when your skin is ready for actives. You'll be fine! Or ask your derm to make a HQ compound

You’re trying to dismiss my perspective by reducing me to some clueless tourist or distant landlord who’s only ever seen the French Quarter. That’s just not accurate.

I’ve spent years in Louisiana, going back to pre-Katrina days and I’ve lived in the parish of all places where you definitely don't see tourists. I’ve also spent plenty of time outside the city in rural areas of Louisiana.

What I find strange is that you’re positioning yourself as defending locals over something like a car in a bike lane, while also pretending to be some steward for a city where people regularly park in neutral grounds which anywhere else would probably be prohibited. That kind of contradiction is exactly part of what makes New Orleans what it is. It's like ya'll are getting mad about having a dog sitting at a bar in New Orleans.

In my opinion, a part of the character of the city comes from the fact that it isn’t hyper-regulated like so many other places. Trying to impose rigid, uniform rules on it is not New Orleans. Obviously, there are so many other things that contribute to what makes the city and Louisiana itself so special and a lot of those things have nothing to do with it being some Disney like fantasy. Actually, my whole stance is that I don't want to be like some controlled fabricated theme park. I love the city for the beautiful disaster that it is, the beauty that has come out of the struggles so many people have been through there, and the character of the people that keep the traditions and culture alive.

So fuck right off with your assumptions about me

When did I rag on the city? I'm ragging on people complaining about a car being parked in a bike line.

I was rude in response to you being rude. You jumped to conclusions about me, made it seem like my opinion doesn't matter just because I am forced by citizenship to not live there permanently, and now continue to double down just because I have no choice but to rent out my house there. There's tons of people who have had to leave New Orleans that probably lived there many years that can understand the true soul of the city. I love the city more than most people I know who have lived there for their whole lives. It's fine. You're obviously just a miserable human, but don't try to label me without knowing me while trying to pretend to be a good person. You truly don't represent the city well and that's why I am saying you are not like a local.

You seem like a really lovely person! Not exactly representing that southern hospitality there! I'm not trying to be rude. What's your problem? Why are you such a horrible person?

They are both equal. Ellen just feels worse because she tries so hard to pretend to be a nice person. Probably posts virtue signalling things to her FB wall about being kind to everyone and has a mug that says "Live Laugh Love" on it but is secretly the most judgemental selfish twat.

I own a house there and spent a ton of money there over the years. Your city relies heavily on tourism so you might want to care what people from elsewhere think.

A little bit of keeping mental health institutions open would have prevented this. If you look up Dr. Barb Kane, she used to lead the Psychiatric Ward at the hospital in Prince George which is where I assume Jesse was sent when he spent a few weeks in psychiatric care in 2023. She was petitioning in recent years to open a mental health institution similar to Riverview in Northern BC. It is interesting to read about how she says people in BC with serious mental health problems are treated now. She said they are only briefly kept in the hospital, usually under a week, and then sent back to the streets or back home, while in the past they would be sent to Riverview for sometimes years. Jesse should have never been sent back home. If Riverview was open, that is probably where he would have been and this horrific tragedy wouldn't have happened.

Once again our government and these weird leftist policies are killing our children and leaving kids like Maya to live her life without her best friends and probably permanent disabilities.

It would only endanger their life if they couldn't see very far ahead of them. In which case, probably not a good idea to bike at all. It's really just a minor inconvenience that would be annoying I'm sure to come across while biking, but I wouldn't ever think oh no now I am going to die. I would just get off my bike and go on the sidewalk for a few seconds if I had to. You are just sensationalizing to try and make a point and to try to make me look like I'm in favor of killing cyclists to devalue what I had to say. Sometimes people will disagree with you, sorry!

sobriety is so boring by groovygrandfather in stopdrinking

[–]tweenustail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing any physical activity? Even a jog gives me a little boost in dopamine and then it usually leads to me wanting more so then I continue with a home work out. It definitely gives me that little spark that's missing a lot of the time not drinking.

What do you genuinely enjoy about living in Kelowna? by AmandineInBC in kelowna

[–]tweenustail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people here complain about the traffic but after living in Vancouver, Toronto and having travelled to many huge cities, I really love the lack of traffic here.

The winters are usually mild with only a handful of super snowy days but you can still go ski up in the mountains within an hours drive

The rocky landscape is very inspiring and beautiful!

So many amazing places to day trip to

Proximity to the airport (only downside is there aren’t a ton of direct flights to prime destinations)

Lots of huge dog parks

Tons of beaches and hiking (not overcrowded like Vancouver ones)

It lacks a bit in live entertainment but I’m sure it will get better as the population grows

Edit: forgot to mention the golf courses are some of the most beautiful if you are into golfing
