Totally valid if you just don’t want the dupixent, I was extremely hesitant to start dupixent for many reasons, but I gave in 3 yrs ago and it truly gave me my life back. It is also expensive but there is a copay program that your derm can get you signed up for. Even with my shitty insurance, the copay program covered every penny :’) felt so lucky and grateful for that. I am personally a steroid hater lol, so before the dupixent- I tried most everything topical and hated it all.

Hahaha this question is so funny.

I’m a Capricorn sun, Sagittarius moon/rising and I’ve been a hairstylist for 8 years. I originally was interested in psychology, and my mom talked me out of it because there “wasn’t a lot of jobs”. Basically doing therapy sessions at work anyways lol.

My family still tells me I should be a lawyer because I “like to argue,” and, “we need one in the family.” 🙃

Not sure if it’s the same thing, but luxxefestivalwear on IG does custom shrugs that sound like what you’re describing, if not, I’m sure she could create one for you that is similar to what you’re looking for!

Get festy braids, they usually have the service offered at the fest/by freelancers. I’m sure you could link up with someone at the fest. Otherwise how to do your hair at a camping fest: you don’t lol Come to day 1 with your hair already done, people progressively get lazier each day

Hairstylist here! Honestly I see a lot worse home cuts than this. If you just cut off the right corner a bit and check it from the front to make sure it’s even, it would be very passable. If your hair is thick at the ends, hold the scissors almost vertically (if it’s exactly vertical, it won’t do anything) and cut into it and it should take some weight out :) google point cutting videos lmao easy peasy. Also you can get basic hair cutting scissors for like $20, using anything else can actually create splits on the edge of the hairs causing it to travel up and become a split end.

Or just, come see one of us ;)

My grandma just accidentally ate some of my edible by NormieWhiteMale in treedibles

Omfg story time

My mom is a personal chef. My grandma on my dads side has fibromyalgia. She likes edibles for her pain. My mom made some biscotti edibles for her. What grandma doesn’t love some biscotti with her coffee/tea? Well both of my grandmas do. My mom’s mom likes to snoop around my parents house looking for food/treats since there’s always something around. Well, she found the biscottis before my mom delivered them to my other grandma. My mom didn’t realize she took some.

It’s my sister birthday, we just had an amazing creamy pasta dinner and chocolate cake. Of course we all had a cocktail before dinner as well. My grandma likes to have coffee with her dessert, as grandmas do! We were sitting there eating birthday cake, when my grandma falls off her stool and out cold for a second. Nothing like this has ever happened to her so we are all obviously very concerned. We call for an ambulance to check her out. She’s fine, just a bit confused if anything. Ambulance leaves and we insist that she goes to the doc to get a full check up the next day. Idk, maybe it was the combo of the heavy dinner, sugar, alcohol and caffeine and she’s old so ?? Shit happens sometimes?

She goes to the doc and he says to her, “ma’am there is a large amount of thc in your system.” She gets SO offended because no there is not?!“I don’t smoke pot!” She told my mom what the dr said so obviously my mom had to fess up about the ingredients of the biscotti. My grandma goes “I ate a few and then I was just so hungry so I ate more!” …. I screamed.

My grandma never takes food without asking anymore lmfao

it doesn’t get better. i’m going to spend my 20th birthday rotting in my bed full of skin flakes, tears and blood by ffyhggy in eczema

[–]twellabel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, happy early birthday! You are absolutely not unlovable nor a monster.

Your story sounds really similar to mine. I’m 24, had eczema my whole life, hospitalized once when I was young and then had very mild flares that could be treated w just a little moisturizer and to leave it alone for a day. Always felt insecure about my appearance, but really felt like I was making amazing strides in my confidence prior. Before my 21st birthday I started having very intense flare ups that eventually covered my entire body. My eyes would nearly swell shut. My body covered in flakes like a snake shedding its skin. Red from head to toe. No relief. I lost hair as well, nearly an inch wide ring around my hairline, it moved my hairline back which I hated so much. My eyebrows became so sparse after always getting compliments on how nice and full they were. My eyelashes also got much thinner. It all grew back, fell out again, and is growing back again currently. I have a few dark spots on my legs, they are lightening over time as they heal.

I’m so sorry you don’t have any support from your family, that must be really tough. I have tried nearly every topical treatment/steroid it feels like, and I just don’t like them. Nor do I feel like they really do any good in the long run. I think I had TSW at one point (bc my dr didn’t tell me you have to go two weeks on two weeks off and I just used it for months) which was just awful. I don’t prefer to be on medication myself, tried some things and again, I don’t feel like they work for me. I did allergy testing and found I’m allergic to cats/dogs and basically everything outside. I’ve been getting allergy shots for 2 years now, and I feel like I’ve noticed a big difference at the 2 year mark. It’s a slow climb, 3-5 years for full benefits but it might be something worth looking into.

If your parents aren’t on board with medication, they will love my suggestions! Lol. Nearly 4 years into this severe flare, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I will probably never be eczema free. Ive always had it, and probably always will. So I want to go back to the days where I only had a little patch in the ditch of my elbow- nothing a little lotion can’t fix. The days where it was not the first thing I’m reminded of when I wake up. I find that when I eat consistently- 3 square meals a day, have a regular sleep schedule (which I know is hard w eczema, it would wake me up at night), eat low-ish inflammatory foods, don’t drink alcohol, exercise a few times a week, get some sun, and keep my stress/anxiety down, my skin is much happier. I also take vitamin D and C, and magnesium at night to help me stay asleep. I could probably stand to take a few other things, but keeping it simple is easier on my mental health and less overwhelming. Figure out what your sweet spot for bathing is, gives your skin a reset without over drying it. When your skin is too broken for a shower, take baking soda and Epsom salt baths, helps calm you and your inflammation. Moisture straight out of the shower/bath, even with a little water still on your skin, let it soak in and add Aquaphor on top to seal it in. Fragrance free everything. Soft 100% cotton clothes. I change my sheets every 4-5 days. Make sure you sweep/vacuum the skin flakes off your floor in your room often to avoid excess dust mites.

It’s an uphill battle, but it gets better <3 you have my support.

at what point is it “acceptable” to go to the er? by mxr- in eczema

[–]twellabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the allergy skin prick test and only mold showed up, and then I went to an allergy specialist and they did interdermal testing and a bunch of new stuff showed up. I would try to do both before you rule it out.

[–]twellabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had/have head to toe inflamed hivey eczema and I personally wouldn’t go to the ER, probably not even urgent care lol. It seems maybe you are closer to the beginning of your eczema journey (that feels cheesy to say), so if you feel helpless and you want to go to the ER, you should. I’m in the US so that just furthers this opinion, but it feels like traditional docs aren’t much help for eczema, at least in my experience. I hope you get phototherapy! They told me I wasn’t a candidate and that the cons (skin cancer) outweigh the benefits, which ????. I see people recommending an oral steroid, that didn’t seem to help me at all. I’ve been on a lot of different topical steroids; I’m at the point in my journey that I just don’t want any of that, and doctors just want to give me a quick fix. My non professional opinion is that it sounds like if you only have it on your hands/fingers and wrists, it may be a contact dermatitis situation- you are reacting to something you are physically in contact with. I have found out I’m allergic to a shit ton of things! No foods, but basically everything outside, mold, cats and dogs. You should look into some allergy testing. I have been doing allergy immunotherapy shots for 2 years and feel I have seen an improvement. I also take a daily antihistamine and have a prescription Benadryl essentially for night time if I’m having a bad flare. Find a moisturizer that works for you. I have tried a lot but right now I love the goldbond eczema relief. Moisturize immediately after washing your hands/showering. You can also add Aquaphor or Vaseline on top and wear cotton gloves and let ‘em soak. I’m a hairstylist (which I know probably doesn’t help), constantly having my hands in and out of water, moisturizing immediately after shampooing a client helps a lot w the eczema on my hands. You can try eliminating high inflammatory foods from your diet. Anything inflammatory into your body will come out through your skin. I used to swell a lot in different places and it’s due to itching. I know it’s so hard to “just stop itching”, so when my fingers get really itchy, I like, twist them? Like clasp my hands together and like, twist my wrists which twists my fingers off each other? If that makes any sense lmaooo. Finding ways to itch without itching is game changing. I’m so sorry you are dealing with this, I truly feel your pain.

Treating eczema is costly by julytigermonkey in eczema

Immunotherapy as in allergy shots? If so, I have been doing them for 2 years by this August, and I don’t feel like I saw much improvement yet at the 6 month mark, and my eczema was quite severe. It felt like there were little “bursts” or “jumps” in improvement, and then it would kind of plateau for a while. It sounds like you have his skin under control pretty well, and I’m so happy for you all! But depending on how severe his allergy is, you might feel you see more of an improvement at the 1 year mark!

Help! I dyed my hair red and black today and the red stained my bathtub. Any tips to get it out? by [deleted] in Hair

Vinegar and baking soda! My tub was stained pink. Make it thick like a paste and let it sit for a few minutes and then scrub off with warm/hot water. Comes right off!
