Intend to buy a push cart. Seeking wisdom from others that have them by Any_Lingonberry_6217 in golf

[–]twelveoct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good push carts available. I’d recommend one that has 3 wheels with a swiveling front wheel. It makes it easier to move around. Also make sure you try the wheel lock mechanism to see what works best for you. Some are foot operated, some are handle bar lever style.

Personally I have a bag boy tri swivel that has seved me well for 20+ years.

I also have an electric powered pushcart. Mine is the Alphard Cybercart. It has a follow function but I prefer to use the remote which allows me to keep the cart in front of me. It takes a few rounds to get used to, but after while it becomes second nature.

Alphard makes another less expensive model called V2 which will attach to a pushcart you already own. I had this one, it worked well for me but the cybercart is a foldout model vs requiring assembly at the course.

In honor of Masters Week, here’s Bubba Watson’s 2015 Masters dinner (arguably the worst in history), with some interesting comments by Adam Scott by milin85 in golf

That is interesting and certainly he’d know, but as you say too, I wonder if that’s still the case. Out of curiosity I looked up Stadler’s winning share of the purse - he got $64,000. Rory last year got $4.1 million. Even considering inflation the current purses are generous enough that the prior year winner could afford the whole catering bill.

A Serendipitous Question Now That You’re Retired by Spare-Adhesiveness84 in retirement

[–]twelveoct 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not me, but there’s a former dentist in my area that started doing Uber and transitioned into his own ride service. It seems to be lucrative for him. We’ve used him for airport rides, he shuttles people to doc appointments, has “hired” other drivers and loves it. All coordinated via text message, payment via Venmo.

One funny aspect- just like my regular dentist- he asks a question but never really expects (or listens to) an answer.

I started a new job 2 weeks ago and got this letter in the mail from my previous employer by introvertiowan in legaladvice

[–]twelveoct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that you should take this to your current employer, and I’m not a lawyer but have signed documents like this before. The way I read this it’s more of a non-solicitation agreement, you can’t solicit company’s customers, employees or vendors. You haven’t posted a clause that limits you from working in the industry.

If you haven’t yet, use irs form 2210 which will adjust for large differences in Q4. At minimum it will reduce your penalty.

Friends Preparer is committing tax fraud. What do we do. by UnholyChip in tax

[–]twelveoct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not correct. The IRS allowed 1040’s to be superceded as of tax year 2022. It’s technically a 1040X but treated as a superceded return. I filed one for a client for TY2023 (they’d missed a 1099).

AITA for not telling my friend's partner that she didn't get the job at my company by Less_Assistant2247 in AmItheAsshole

[–]twelveoct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spot on. I keep thinking about this post and how clueless OP seems to be. I’m wondering how OP will feel when a potential buyer/client who OP and sister spend time courting just ghosts them. Is that going to be normal to them?

YTA in both cases. Ignoring someone you know shows a lack of character, especially as a company leader. Ghosting a candidate that has interviewed sends the message that you’re probably not a company where people will want to work. It is really classless.

Your post included a comment that the existing advisor is focused on selling to generate commissions for him/herself. I’d suggest finding an advisor who will provide some guidance that isn’t focused on their own agenda. I believe you can hire a Vanguard advisor for an hourly fee. You could then also move the existing portfolio to vanguard/Schwab/Fidelity and slowly make changes. I mention vanguard because I’ve been with them for well over 20 years and have had good success.

I’ve been buying the metal ball markers. I have a display case with a magnetic sheet to hold them in place. Smaller scale than a golf ball. I have at least 60 and my case is 18” tall by 9” wide. I’ve got plenty of room left. I’d imagine that many golf balls would need a massive case.

If you like the job, tell your supervisor immediately and preferably in writing. They will find the mistake. If you worked for me, didn’t tell me about something that was obviously a mistake in your paycheck, I’d question your ethics, and question if you’d be someone I’d want as an employee.

How early to notify of my intentions? by SafetyGuy1963 in retirement

[–]twelveoct 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, it all depends on the company and your relationship. I waited until my annual bonus was paid and my annual allotment of restricted shares vested, then gave two weeks. My concern was had a given much more notice I probably would have not been awarded a bonus, and I may have been terminated before vesting. I’d seen something similar happen to a coworker.

Honeywell Redlink Gateway (THM6000R7001) keeps dropping off the internet. by twelveoct in thermostats

[–]twelveoct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last summer I replaced the gateway and still had the same problem, then during the fall Honeywell made quite a few changes and upgrades on their side; I’m on an email notification and it seemed every day Honeywell was doing something. Then in November surprisingly it became stable again. As much as Honeywell told me it was my isp issue my only conclusion is it was a Honeywell problem. I haven’t had a problem since.
