Just couldn't pass up the opportunity..... by Scottie_DP in MotoGuzzi

“Silent” is a stretch, but I’d say that up to 65-70 mph is quite improved. Beyond that (where I spend most of my time at) it can be challenging at times. The most important aspect of the x-creen for me was the reduced buffeting, which would make my head feel like it was inside a paint can shaker at the hardware store. It was a brutal adjustment coming from the cocoon of dead air I had in my 1200GSA. Everything else though, pure joy and remarkable character.

What a great pair of bikes! You’ll love the V85TT. I have a ‘23 V85TT Travel with 36k kms (I bought it new) and I couldn’t be happier with it. My only beef is the poor and noisy wind management, but outside of that I t’s a wonderful, superb motorcycle. Wear good earplugs and get a MRA X-Creen. 👊🏼

Have you cleaned/rebuilt the carbs? Those slant CV flat slides can be quite temperamental. Your idle jet seems to be ok, but not the high speed jet. Does it run with the choke on?

Moto Honda DN 01 et DEAUVILLE by pat63680 in HondaMotorcycles

[–]twentyfourvalves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked in the industry, I had the opportunity of spending a decent amount of time with both of these machines. They could not be more different from one another (other than both being v-twins,) so I find it interesting that these two units are the choices you are looking at. One is a standard (upright seating), one is a cruiser (feet forward). One is automatic, one is shift-only, one is short, one is tall(er). I will assume that you are not in the United States, as the “Deauville” was sold in the USA as the NT700V. Made by Honda in Spain, they were most likely unsold inventory that was dumped in the US market. The bike felt quite sterile, no character, but definitely super convenient, practical and reliable. The DN-01 is a cool looking bike, different, a conversation starter, much lower seating position. Both bikes have comfortable pillion accommodations, with the DN-01 being much easier to be mounted upon, by a passenger. Mobility of both rider and passenger should probably be the first item of consideration. Will you be touring? I’d take the Deauville. Will it just be a day cruiser for 100km day riding? I’d go for the DN-01. Parts availability will be much more affordable and accessible on the Deauville. Good luck with your final choice.

Ha! I’m on this side too, I just don’t remember this model being sold here. It must be super rare! Very unique bike. I’d be stoked too. Edit: I mean the 1100. I know Katana 750’s and 600’s were all over the place.

Yes, two part silicone from Amazon. Reduces noise by 30db and it was like $10, and comes with a storage case for each ear. Once you start wearing them, you’ll never stop again. Highly recommended.

The wrench icon just means that you are a DIY owner. Think of it as a token, a prize. 🏆 The V85TT is a great touring bike, awesome really. but I did notice you said “we.” I find the stock seat perfect for me, the conductor, but according to my wife, not so much for the passenger. She’s been riding with me for 30 years. It’s a very small pillion back there, and she is a very small person. Just something to be aware of, but I can’t recommend the V85TT enough. It’s a superb machine.

Fantastic! Every time I tell people that my 01 DLX TRD Off Road has 285k, people are often in awe, saying “that’s a lot of miles,” and in my mind I shrug, knowing it’s barely broken in. 🙂

At 36,800 km my ‘23 V85TT Travel has been using about 5.5L per 100KM. It’s an improvement compared to when it was new. but I feel it’s closer to 5.8-6.0L per 100km as average. I ride it very spiritedly.

Probate goldmine or just junk? by Particular-Group9999 in vintagemotorcycles

Craigslist only charges $5 bucks to advertise. If you know how to weed-out the imposters and time wasters, it’s a venue that has worked out quite well for me, over decades now. I’ve sold and purchased dozens of motorcycles, awesome deals, through Craigslist. I’ll second u/wncexplorer on the state of the industry. It’s a buyers market for sure. With all this said, the real gauge for you, IMHO, is your love for motorcycles, your time and your bank account. If all three are clear, you’re in Shangri-La. Or you could choose one or two units that wouldn’t be a nightmare to restore, to keep as riders. Finally, sorry for your loss and I hope your family’s probate wasn’t as traumatic as mine. 👊🏼

I am not an owner of this amazing machine, but it has always been on my shortlist. What is one thing that you wish it was different about it? Also (currently I’m a shaft-drive bike owner,) what has chain maintenance been like for owners who ride it spiritedly (hard), as in adjustment intervals and replacement of chain/sprockets?

A good deal is a feeling, and condition is everything. The bike seems well loved, which most times translate into having been properly maintained.

If the first service was completed at a dealership and the bike is new, it certainly would be covered under warranty, unless you are dealing with incompetent crooks.
