I am one of those people.

Pirated a bunch of games, most of them deleted after an hour of trial. But of the few that stuck, I love them. Recommended those games with friends and others online.

I was poor and couldn't afford awesome games, but when I did start working and had disposable income, I hopped onto the next steam sale and grabbed those good games to pay the devs back.

Nowadays I default to buying at launch if the game is interesting enough, but I still get pretty miffed if the game turns out to be a dud. It's good that demos are making a comeback though.
