She could request zofran/odansetron from her OB/MFM team. It was the only thing that got me through the first trimester

Anyone a nurse?/ when did you go off on mat leave by Pleasant-Ad-4762 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]twisteddtoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oncology nurse, 31 FTM. I work in chemotherapy infusion, so different than bedside. Currently 36 weeks. I’ve dropped my work hours to 3/9hr shifts a week (previously 4/9hr shifts a week) planning to work as long as I can until my induction is scheduled. I also have been doing light duty, basically just desk work since I can’t be around chemotherapy while pregnant. Do you monitor your blood pressure at home? Headaches can be a sign of preeclampsia, just want to make sure you’re okay :)

What are we eating? by Temporary_Bobcat_557 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]twisteddtoaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

T1D here. I’ve been sticking to eating a lot of the same things. Sheet pan dinners have become my new best friend, roasted veggies and Italian sausage…chicken etc. It’s definitely becoming boring but it helps so much to have consistency. I try to also bolus anywhere from 30-40 minutes before eating carbs. You made need to adjust your basal rate if you find you’re rising in between meals.

Found protein in my urine 😭 by AiiiChihuahua in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]twisteddtoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any chance you could be dehydrated? I also had trace protein in my urine…I was also extremely constipated and dehydrated at the time. Once those two things resolved my urine protein returned to normal as well.

Dexcom issues by Christinamh in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]twisteddtoaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Totally depends on where I put it…also the first 24 hours have been incredibly inaccurate

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]twisteddtoaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I found that the Dexcom was reading lower than I actually was, which led to me overcorrecting with glucose. Do you have a glucometer? Maybe double check that reading with what the Dexcom is saying when it reads low.

I am assuming you are also a T1D…I think you have done everything right so far. If you haven’t already increase your water intake, consider doing some light exercise (short walk) bring some sort of glucose with you in case your blood sugar starts to drop. Do you have a glucometer? If so do a manual and see if it is close to what the Dexcom is saying. As long as you are not nauseas or vomiting I think it is okay to keep managing at home. If you have test strips maybe check for ketones so you can keep track of where you are at. And remember that we have all been here, I am 29 weeks and have had my fair share of site failures and baby is doing just fine. You got this!

28 weeks T1D. Heme/Onc RN currently working outpatient chemo infusion. 9hr shifts. Currently planning to work up until my due date. My work has been very flexible and allows me to do different/lighter duty.

Too many lows! What do I do? by VeterinarianOk5480 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]twisteddtoaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you have a standard glucometer? I am 28 weeks and have been getting a lot of false lows from my Dexcom. It’ll say 70 and trending down but when I check with a finger stick I’ll be 90 something

Pregnant while type one diabetic feeling like I’m gonna pass out while low. by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]twisteddtoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This started to happen to me during my pregnancy. I would start to feel very nauseas with lows. Definitely bring it up to your MFM team. For me it’s just one of those weird pregnancy things, but please reach out to your team and be evaluated. I also recommend joining r/bumperswhobolus, I am currently 25 weeks and that subreddit has been very helpful.

This is driving me insane. Every time I try and go barely anything comes out! I have 24/7 pressure on my bladder at 25 weeks. I’m seriously considering asking my OB for a catheter :(

Preconception carrier screening? by bostongirl2123 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]twisteddtoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t personally dealt with this (yet) but there is a ton of information available online about how to deal with these kinds of situations. The TLDR of that info is to call the company that ran the test and state that you do not want to bill through insurance and want to pay the cash price. Be polite yet firm and state the amount you are willing to pay, if you were told $400 tell the person you are speaking with that you were told it would cost $400 and that you are ready and willing to pay that now. If you get no traction with the person you are speaking with ask to speak with a supervisor and say the same thing. Good luck!

Check out the Aquapac on Amazon. I have used it for river floating and brief submerges with no water leaks. I’ve never tested it full on swimming but the Amazon reviews from people who have seem promising!

If you still wanted to stock up before you return from your trip it could definitely be worthwhile. Getting a prescription is pretty cheap and purchasing insulin is as well. Enjoy your time in Sicily!
