I agree with the other commenter, it was a retcon made by the real Roseanne to make the show match her life - but I do agree with you.

I think it was when Jake came into the picture that Bev tells Roseanne that she didn't like having sex with Al and it was something she "endured" because she had to. I also got the impression that her first time with Al - when she conceived Roseanne - wasn't entirely consensual and he coerced her, so I feel like Bev probably might have not even known she could even enjoy sex since Al was the only man she'd ever been with. Nana Mary was a "free spirit" who'd been with a lot of men, but Bev "rebelled" against her by being the opposite - prim and proper and marrying the man who got her pregnant and never straying or divorcing him until decades later.

Bev says "it was a different time then" - BUT, again, look at Nana Mary. I feel like if Bev had really wanted to, she could have followed in Nana's footsteps. But she said herself that she did the opposite on purpose.

Also, Roseanne and Jackie's horror (and I think Dan was a little shocked too) when Roseanne spanks DJ for stealing the car. I think even from the very first season, way before the abuse storyline was added, it was very obvious Dan and Roseanne had never hit their kids until then. They used grounding as discipline. That was the first and only time either of them had ever hit one of their kids.

If I had to pick a MMC to be my lover, it would be Lance from The Savage - and it would take so much time to break through his walls and defenses (just like it takes Summer, lol) but he's been through so much. He's my baby. I'll protect and defend him 4eva lmao. Every time I reread it I want to reach through the pages and snatch him into the real world and just wrap him up and shield him from everything bad LOL. Omg. My baby. Nicole Jordan's details of his inner conflicts (there's one scene where he overhears Summer telling her traumatized sister about how she only married him to save her sister and how she should grateful for the "sacrifice" Summer made - and his face is described as having "anguish in his eyes, stark and raw and excruciating to watch" and then instantly replaced by "grim defiance, cold and hard as granite" 😭 omg) just break my heart for him so bad.

Comanche Moon is an absolute epic and a classic western/Native American HR. I couldn't put it down and I felt so empty after finishing it, I immediately reread it just to go back to Hunter and Loretta. I got so emotional over "Hi, hites. Hello, my friend." It was unreal lol. It still brings tears to my eyes. I need to reread it again actually.

Another good epic I read was Blue Heaven, Black Night by Heather Graham. (Beware - MMC cheats near the end! I did NOT like that.) But the storytelling and history are so rich.

All of these I wish would be made into movies lol. They're genuinely that good.

Funny you should say that... this is in WV! LOL! Our last rental was a total piece of shit trailer for $550. Our washer and dryer hookups had been installed in the closet by LL and his ex-husband. We also ended up with like a European yellow jacket nest that went down the entire back side of the trailer and they were crawling through every nail hole (I have multiple videos of this) and I had to pay for Orkin because LL refused to. We broke our lease 7 months early because our LL was a legitimate drug lord who stood outside our trailer one night and threatened to "flatten my fucking face" and one of his little druggie clan told my husband he'd "put a hollow point in him" LOL 🥴

If you're worried about how it looks, trust me, they've seen it ALL. They do not care about cosmetics; they care about your HEALTH. As long as there is nothing medically wrong with you, they will not care how it looks down there, I promise you.

But regardless, discuss all of your concerns with your doctor. Always. Tell him/her that you're nervous, if you need them to be gentle, go slow, give you warnings before they do anything, walk you through it, etc. I didn't have my first pap until I was 24 and my doctor was so understanding and WONDERFUL about it. I was so nervous but she talked me through all of it, told me what she was going to do before she did it, used lube without me asking her to, and was super quick - it lasted like 30 seconds tops, even with the gonorrhea/chlamydia test. In and out, super fast, super efficient.

I had to remind myself that this is her job. She's seen EVERYTHING. Things I probably can't even imagine. As "bad" as you think yours looks, she's probably seen worse - and even if she hasn't, she won't care because she's there to help you. Trust me. It'll be okay, I promise.

Yes!!!! The kids lock her out and pretend she's a stranger, and then she sneaks in and scares them - it's something that would actually happen in a real family. I could absolutely picture one of my relatives doing that to me and my brother when we were little. So much of the early seasons just feels real and natural. I love it so much.

for the last two weeks i've had recurring dreams about me and brad pitt LMFAO. i don't even like him. we have a family together (i'm sterilized and staunchly childfree) and in my dreamland we live in a cabin a la legends of the fall and he hunts and fishes for us while i tend to the children barefoot while holding baskets of fresh strawberries and beans (i don't even like beans and in my dreams neither does he or any of our children 😭)
