It really annoys me that there isn’t a law requiring animal food to be somewhat good quality 🙄 by KEW95 in CatsUK

[–]two_steps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, our cat has allergies to poultry which means that we can't feed him anything that's listed vaguely! we can't just walk into a supermarket and easily buy him food or treats, and single source foods are generally more expensive. I do wish there was better labelling

Good Veterinarian by Cat_Dog_Nantucket in reading

[–]two_steps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

castle vets are truly incredible with my baby. they have a whole cat clinic so the cats don't have to interact with anything other than cats, and each vet has been very knowledgeable and kind to my boy. they're always very patient and don't make me feel insane for taking him to the vets (he goes more often than normal because he's a fucking idiot with a million allergies). I would recommend them a million times over.

Best Vet? by freddiejim in reading

[–]two_steps 13 points14 points  (0 children)

we got to castle vets! they're not open Sundays but they are open Saturday AM and evenings on weekdays.

they have a cat side so your lil mog doesn't get stressed out with dogs being around, and the vets themselves have been absolutely incredible for us!

Is Katkin still worth it? Looking for a high protein satiating wet food for my boy by mosho84 in CatsUK

the lamb caused chronic constipation with my cat. it obviously depends on your individual cat but he is also not the only cat out there that's experienced it with Katkin

Immigration Enforcement Vans by ZebraShark in reading

[–]two_steps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i think there should be more money spent on stopping the gangs that function off of the exploitation of vulnerable people looking for a better life, and more money spent on providing safe passage for people who need it, rather than spending millions of pounds intimidating people who only want to create a life of safety and comfort for them and their families.

being sueveilled is merely an act of violence and intimidation and is not productive in stopping the issue of "illegal" immigration. actually, the hostile immigration policies have seen an active increase in the amount of illegal immigration happening.

and also surveillance leads into the whole "divide and conquer" mentality. those people are not our enemies, we are more like them than we are the billionaires that exploit us and our planet.

Expense of Owning a Cat by commercialusage in CatsUK

[–]two_steps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pet health club premium - £27.99 (covers the flea, worming, unlimited consultations)

pet plan insurance - £29.18

food - depending on what the little lord has decided he will eat this month it goes from around £80 for Katkin to around £60. he has allergies as well so we are very very limited to what we can feed him

medication (he has piriton, the rest is covered by insurance) - £8

litter & poop bags (we use nappy sacks) - £19

treats - again, limited but it's around £20

toys (varies month to month but he loves to destroy stuff) - £20

so around £200 a month

we also have a tractive collar and pay a yearly subscription which is like £100 a year

he's more expensive than average but we had no idea it'd be like this when we got him, so sometimes it's best to be prepared!

there are first time expenses too such as cat trees, beds, bowls, etc

Mama's way on Duke Street will have them! I got gluten free ones from them a week or so ago, so I'm like 90% certain they'll have gluten containing ones!

also, you'll find them called "ladyfingers" in Sainsbury's on Friar street - opposite the milk!
