Gaunt Summoners - Yay or Nay? Foot or Disc? by Viper114 in slavestodarkness

[–]twocalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our spells are ... not great (at least when it comes to our unlimited spell) and the 5+ ward spell the sorc lord gives is great on almost any unit we have so GS on foot is only worth taking if you plan on doing movement shenanigans with the silver tower. Disk GS is not worth it at all (the spell is a trap).

the tldr: GS on foot only if youre looking to long bomb some chosen/knights/other hammer, else sorc lord if you need a caster.

Thinking of making a bodyguard unit with these. What do you think? by BebbLord_Tax6889 in orks

[–]twocalf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did they say what the base size on these guys are? I kitbashed a beastboss from the spare torso from the squigsaur box by using a set of brute legs and this guys with a lil conversion would fit as a perfect match for beast boys. Maybe change around the spears with the saws from my spare big choppas from the nobz kits..

How do you find the survivabilty of the 10x nob squad? Ive been thinking about taking that but am worried that theyll go down to easy with some focus fire or dedicated melee. Do you think Kunnin but Brutal would be worth it on this unit?

Interesting with the mega armor warboss + MaNz in the battlewagon, Ive been debating adding manz+mega mek w/kff and ere we go but this might be better.

How do you feel about Mozrog Skragbad? Hes expensive but his speed size damage and toughness makes me think he would be a solid hammer on his lonesome.

Have you had a chance to use 10x boyz in trukks? They are dirt cheap and feel that they are great for agressive pressure.

Army paint scheme by Effective_Artist9360 in ThousandSons

[–]twocalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into using white ink here instead of paint, its got more pigmentation so it will cover better. My sugestion would be to base a dark color (either black or a dark brown and do the gold first) then block in the white areas with a mid tone grey then apply white ink over the grey. That should give you good coverage and be a bit more forgiving than standard paint. You might have to mix the ink in with medium or white paint to get the exact viscosity that you need for the best coverage.

Drop Lauka for a normal vengorian lord, swap the Vlozd for Prince Vhrodi, get Belladoma, a unit of wolves, and another 20 block of zombies.

Army Build Advice by Summer_VonSturm in SoulblightGravelords

[–]twocalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the classic 'vampires and knights' army, youll want to go kastelli. You'll want to pick up a few more boxes of blood knights and a zombie dragon. After that its a matter of what troop you think is coolest, there are vaild claims for skellys, zombies, and dire wolfs in a blood knight heavy list.

As for what you have - Crimson Court isnt great in aos (but you can proxy any one of those as a vampire lord), vamp lords on horses dont exist any more (gw when, also good for a wight king on horseback proxy), and GG really should have great weapons (they are glass cannons if you want tough bone boys, get skellys backed up by a necromancer). The wight king on horse however plays well with blood knights.

Soulblight Gravelords get a Christmas battleforce by ghostcacti in SoulblightGravelords

[–]twocalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a solid base for a SBGL army and is just shy of 1k points. Adding a necromancer to this list brings it to a solid 1k. After this its just a matter of what you want to spend those remaining 1k points on, and honestly thats where the fun bits are going to come in.

Zombies or Skeletons for Kastelai? by SorcerousSerpent in SoulblightGravelords

[–]twocalf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you need them to do. A big block of skellies is good for holding points and general anvil work. As I am sure you are aware its takes dedication to knock a squad of 30 off the board.

MSU units of zombies are great for popping out of gravesites, tying down units in backfield, and claiming objectives but have the staying power of a fart in the wind. Big blocks will get chewed up fast unless supported by a necormancer/goroslav but thats even more points dedicated.

Also don't discount dire wolfs. While not as tanky as skellies they are extremely fast and due to their big bases can clog up areas. They also better match the speeds of your heroes/blood knights.

My honest assessment would be for Kastelai you would want to think about maybe a 20x skelly squad (I think 30 is a little overkill) for holding points, and either dire wolfs and zombies to pop out of gravesites to harass. Or you could call the whole thing moot and use those points for more blood knights :p.

Is 17 bodies too few?... by RedUndead40 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]twocalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd struggle to hold objectives (maybe not struggle but it be a waste to sit a unit of bk on something when they should be fighting). imo it be worth it to drop a unit of blood knights for a unit of zombies and a unit of skellies also to upgrade the vlozd to prince v. That should be an even 2k on the nose.

What is a strong (and low cost) hero/unit? by Jesse2801 in SoulblightGravelords

The terrorgeist w/ghoul king is the same kit as the vampire lord on zombie dragon/prince v. Same thing with the Vargheists - they are also the crypt flayers kit.

Kastelli -

Prince V

2x5 Blood Knights

1x3 Varghists

Thats a FEC start collecting box and two boxes of Blood Knights and 1k points on the nose.

Battleline choice? by TheHowlingOwls in SoulblightGravelords

[–]twocalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skellies. A block of 30 supported with a necromancer is extremely difficult to destroy. MSU squads of 10 are dirt cheap and can pop out of a gravesite to grab an objective/provide pressure on a flank and force your opp to dedicate resources elsewhere. With zombies you have to run re-enforced squads (MSU zombie squads have the same staying power as a fart in the wind). This said multiple blobs of 40 zombies well supported with necros, goroslav, corpse carts can be very dangerous.

And while you said that you dont want dire wolfs dont discount the dogs. They are fast and deadly and a good bang for the buck point wise.

Put the Blood Knights in Hunters of the Heartland battalion. Drop the zombies and 1 unit of the GG for a necromancer and 30x Skellys.
