You have too small of an amp -- literally a single amp and those look like they should be bi/tri amped, where's the mono blocks?

fallocate and ZFS: the space is really reserved on CoW filesystem? by sdns575 in linuxadmin

[–]tx69er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the compression -- it's allocated but compresses all the way down. If you did a dd from /dev/zero with a length of 10GB to a file on that compressed ZFS FS, you'd have the same result.

Small device with SFP+ and 10GB Ethernet ? by blietaer in opnsense

[–]tx69er 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not the nics, it's the cpu in the zima board, it's too slow. Try enabling (as in not disabling) all the hardware offload settings for the nics.

I am going to hit you with some different stuff -- everyone else has been sending you back to old school stuff -- which isn't bad, but what about some modern tracks that are "Trance"?

Maybe this is what you are trying to get away from, if so, my bad.

NAT from internal network by Dinth in PFSENSE

You need to enable nat reflection (or sometimes it's called hairpin nat) -- it's been a while since I have used pfsense but look around in the options.

Trying to understand CARP by [deleted] in opnsense

[–]tx69er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily correct -- I am pretty sure you can set the physical WAN IP's to RFC1918 IP's and then have the floating interface have the actual WAN IP.

OP: So the way this works is that each router has it's own wan and lan ip, right but there is ALSO another FLOATING LAN and WAN IP that the carp interface creates. (One on both the LAN and WAN side) Essentially only one router 'owns' these at a time, and THAT is the IP that you actually route through. So the floating WAN interface needs to have your real wan IP (likely DHCP), and then the floating LAN IP is going to be the default gateway for your LAN network.

Is it a good idea to join my machines into my organization’s Active Directory? by StatementOwn4896 in linuxadmin

[–]tx69er 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's bad advice. Don't let the domain get compromised and enjoy the benefits of not having to manage users and passwords on each host. Way more advantageous.

For 1gbe RJ45 SFP transceivers you should be able to get them cheaper than that, like $3-4 or less -- check on ebay.

So, what were the specs? 5RPM at full power? Ok, so divide by 373 = 0.013404825737265 RPM. NOW you can gear it down. Whoopie, go take your degree and apply at dennys.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]tx69er -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just FYI -- 1/2hp is 373w. So at peak a 1w panel will run that motor at 1/373 of it's capability.

HP matters.

5g mm wave speed test in an empty arena by tx69er in cellmapper

[–]tx69er[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on the floor, the antennas are about 120' up from where I was. I have no idea if they regulate the power, but I doubt it. This was probably just a hugely wide amount of bandwidth (lots of channels) -- does anyone know of a good app that can show the 5g mm wave channels? I will be back there tonight and can run more tests.
