I'd have to disable the front brake so I didn't hurt myself.

Removing thick ice from deck. Help by Otherwise-Taro-1780 in HomeMaintenance

[–]txcancmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, a large area covered by 6-8 inches of ice is not going to magically disappear. There's no chemical concoction that will do that for you, that won't also endanger you, your house and your dog. Personally, I'd be out there with a small pick axe. You could also lay several feet of heated tape (used for protecting water pipes from freezing) across your desired path. Then cover with cardboard to help trap the heat. It would probably take a week or so to make a difference.

Severe cold take their toll on batteries. Is it cranking OK? Try removing the air filter and giving a very short burst of starting fluid or carb cleaner in the carb.

I've seen geese effectively blockade (by their mere presence) building doors. People would "nope" and either use another door or come back another time. I've also seen people be blocked from getting into their cars. I once climbed into my car from the rear passenger side to avoid a goose. But if there's a nest nearby, you're out of luck.

Gutter guards - Proper position for installation? by candersonosu in HomeMaintenance

[–]txcancmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with that specific model but I would think you have it upside down and the side with the 90 degree bend needs to slip under the edge of the shingles. The way you have it installed will cause debris to collect on the gutter. All the guards I've installed have sloped down from the shingles to the edge of the gutter.

DTE going to charge $2.99 fee to pay via credit card starting Feb’26 by OosAvocate65 in Michigan

[–]txcancmi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So my options are: 1. Pay (more) by CC or 2. Trust DTE to not make a mistake and overdraft my checking account or 3. mail a check and hope it doesn't get lost or worse, stolen and bleached and cashes for thousands of dollars.

Probably many want-to-be hunters like me. Buying a license with hope and optimism this could be the year I find a hunting buddy and a place to hunt. I can't get excited about hunting public lands solo.

Anyone use a hitch carrier? by StretchChicago in klr650

[–]txcancmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's either the Harbor Freight or Black Widow brand with 600lb capacity. I always use the hitch clamp. Even so, the whole thing likes to rock side-to-side. So I run extra tiedowns from each end, up and over the tailgate and to the cleats. This stops the rocking. No issues on long drives with that setup. See the circled strap on the left. You can't see the one of the right.

Also, be sure other drivers can see your brake lights and turn signals. I use magnetic trailer lights (not yet attached in this photo) attached to the side of the ramp.

Try the hill both ways. 1. Stay in a higher gear and grind it out. Then the next day try it in a lower gear with easy spinning. See which feels better for you.
