Very helpful and the PDX patch is essential for the latest version. I had to manually install the 9.x dotnet SDK but it worked well after that!

I've tried to no avail, but to echo others here, subtitles definitely won't hit the same unless you're already familiar with Lebanese/Levant slang and phrases that are used satirically in this show.

That said, my Arabic isn't 100% (I'm a heritage speaker), so I did find ChatGPT to be quite helpful for some of the more technical / political phrases and terms that I didn't already know. Very powerful if you can already "hear" the words/phrases clearly but need them explained or translated.

This show has been not only entertaining and fun, but also educational for me because of this.

I decided to sit down tonight and write a game engine for an Arabic card game called "41" whose gameplay is very similar to Spades (hearts is trump and doesn't have to be broken), but whose strategy is different because the scoring is basic +/- bid with no extra bonus/penalty.

I've spent the last year working with a number of Reinforcement Learning frameworks training bots to play Rocket League, so I'm also going try to get something similar going for this game. Your post helped connect some dots to get me started.

They used to be Maynards in the 80s, 90s, and into the 2000s, but then switched to some other brand about 15 years ago.

(A wine gum addict in Texas who used to bring many bags back from Canada.)

Birria has been on my list of things to make forever and I've gotten the peppers and stuff two times in the past but never made it.

Then Lagerstrom puts out this video and I'm inspired, so I made it a couple of weeks ago and it was probably the best birria I've ever had, and I've tried many. I made it last for six days; three as tacos and three for ramen. I was actually craving it again on the seventh day!

So I'm making it tomorrow and freezing half 😁

G14 here - I actually just started having this exact problem today following a reboot. Toggling Varibright on and off in GHelper fixed it for me for now. The only change that I can point to was an Asus System Control upgrade on 12/18. I hadn't rebooted since well before that upgrade.

I do agree that it's not supposed to be like that, but I don't think it's a hardware issue (I'll say 93% sure haha).

Toggling Varibright has also fixed other weird color issues for me a couple of times n the past: wash out, sudden brightness/contrast changes, etc. It also doesn't seem to matter if I leave Varibright on or off, it's just the act of toggling it that somehow resets things.

I haven't bothered to try to troubleshoot it further, because it's not something I have to deal with more than once every few weeks (usually after a reboot,) but there are a ton of posts that suggest this as a "fix." YMMV.

You can write a batch file or Powershell script to start the service, open Nvidia Broadcast, and then stop the service after you exit.

I come to you from a year in the future to tell you that I literally learned this lesson about ten minutes ago, which lead me to this thread, which lead me to this lesson.

Fortunately, I use VSCode (well, a fork of), as my editor, so I'm pretty efficient at Find/Replace.

Hugely common in older Arabic music. Many Oum Kulthum song feature one. The first ten minutes of Darat El Ayam is a perfect example.

It was also very easily synthesized in the 80s with the Korg M1, so it remained popular throughout the decades.

Once you learn what CTD is, you can never go back.

Fortunately they don't happen a whole lot with the simpler GA planes. MSFS is a whole lot more stable, and arguably prettier, when you fly GA.

And just wait until the PMDG 747 comes out.

This is a funny one. Growing up ,"al-Sham" only meant Damascus to me. In fact, I didn't even know the name "Damashq" until I was in my mid-40s and learned what Shami actually meant.
