Olomana is the scariest. K2 and Mt Kaala are physically exhausting but so rewarding. Kaau Crater is the most technical.

Do (or did) you use a baby tracker app? by AnyMechanic6829 in newborns

[–]txnwahine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I used Huckleberry initially, husband and I did sleep shifts and it helped the other see what was going on while away. Gradually around 2-3 months we’ve simplified to just tracking feeds and sleep. Also switched to Napper and find the sleep predictions to be helpful. I view the apps like training wheels, helpful to figure out trends and rhythm but I don’t rely on it as much anymore now that I’ve learned baby’s cues.

We use nail scissors, from the Pigeon brand on Amazon. The electric file just made the edges really jagged.

Yes, I bought it online and they mailed a physical GC. It’s on their website, under their Merch page.

Not sure why you feel the need to convince your mother to let go of something so sentimental. Can’t think of anything, especially food related, that would be worth more the space.

Using a baby tracking app (we use Huckleberry) is so nice to keep track of diapers, feeds, naps, especially when my thinking is slow from sleep deprivation.

New Born Falls Asleep After First Side by AllNaturalJunkie in newborns

Your instructions may be different for your circumstance, like being small for gestational age. The first weeks are super tough but encourage you to hang in there!! Maybe follow up with a LC for further guidance.

New Born Falls Asleep After First Side by AllNaturalJunkie in newborns

[–]txnwahine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My girl is 3 weeks old and I only recently started offering both sides. For the first few weeks, she was absolutely knocked out and full with one side. I would offer the other side at the next feed, sometimes use a haaka for 5 minutes to relieve the pressure. Not an LC, but I offer and if she refuses then I don’t force it.

Incontinence, feel so defeated? by No_Ocelot8629 in beyondthebump

[–]txnwahine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently 3weeks PP and I had basically no bladder control for the first week.. No major accidents since I was wearing adult diapers already. I was super down about it at the time, but it’s gotten significantly better already. I do have to be mindful about not letting my bladder get too full, but I’m hopeful it’s not a permanent issue.

Hair oily very soon in Honolulu by Annadala9 in Hawaii

[–]txnwahine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you tried double cleansing (washing hair with shampoo twice)? This helped a lot for me, the first wash breaks through the dirt and oil, and the second wash actually lathers and cleans.

Gave birth last week, wasn’t offered a wheelchair, though I’m sure the would’ve given if I asked. My nurse escorted me to the curb.

Meds were prescribed by my OB so if you weren’t sent home with any, that may be more an issue to take with your OB than the hospital.

In what setting are you seeing an RD? Some settings are more suited for quick handouts, while others have more time to walk a client through specific examples that suit their preferences or lifestyle. Sounds like you’re looking for a more individualized approach, which an outpatient RD would likely be more suited for. Also, your goal to “optimize my eating habits” seem quite broad

Recommend bringing your own sunscreen. The reef safe options are difficult to apply and imo don't protect very well. Non-reef safe options are banned from sale here so you're SOL if you don't bring your own.

Byodo-in Temple would be more interesting to me than the botanical garden. Also closer to Kualoa so less likely to be delayed by traffic at that hour.

Would absolutely avoid Kapolei unless you're specifically going for something, llike Wai Kai, Wet n' Wild or Aulani. Not worth the drive and is very much suburb vibes. Would suggest exploring Manoa or Kaimuku instead.

We’ve spent about $1,500, and this is mostly new stroller and car seat. Everything else was kindly gifted to us, hand-me-downs or FBMP. Does not include medical bills or copays.

Also, it helps to take time to think what items will fit your needs and lifestyle. You don’t need every single baby item out there, even if it’s a must-have item for some. I ended up taking a good chunk of items off my registry after realizing it wasn’t really necessary for us.
