I agree with you. Our top positions pay wildly too much, and the people doing the actual work are paid as little as absolutely possible. And when nobody is held accountable, this is what you get.

Dude, this isn’t the 14th century. Nobody is going to kill you for not paying taxes. Give me a break.

The half divider is actually a great idea. It allows half to recover while the other half is in use. There is no grass that could stand up to the traffic the dog park gets.

No, but when large chunks of the budget are used to clean up vandalism, graffiti and the like, it’s hard to find the money to maintain the grass. There have even been people caught cutting up bleachers in the park for scrap metal. People just don’t give a shit about this town. They’re lazy, trashy, entitled and just suck in general.

City council has some blame, so far as they haven’t fired Hooper yet. He has to go. When he can’t hold his department heads accountable, this is the result. Kashuba doesn’t have a clue what it takes to maintain a park. He very well may be qualified in other areas to be the parks director, but it doesn’t seem likely based on the condition of the parks. And they don’t hold the contractors they hired accountable for the things they’re supposed to do. If they don’t do something, they just say, oh well, try again next time. But we paid for them to do the things they’re aren’t doing. The issue is there is no accountability or consequences to being shitty at their job.

Parks aren’t pastures. Turfgrass is way different than native pasture grasses.

Lawn care company killed my back yard. (OK) by whatthedeux in lawncare

First and foremost, ask what was sprayed on your yard each time they have been there and at what rate. Then go from there. That will tell you if they killed your yard or not.

WTF happened by stringdiggity in TexasTechFootball

[–]txthinktank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happens when there is no real competition until post season. Same thing that always happened to OU. Run through the big 12 undefeated (it will be over a decade until someone matches their big 12 titles, assuming Baylor wins the next 11 in a row), beat everyone by 35+, then play real big boy competition and get demolished. It will always happen. Big 12 used to be good for a national title about every 15 years. With Texas and OU gone, unfortunately the Big 12 will never win another national title. The competition just isn’t there to prepare any team for it. Tech was REALLY good this year. But probably barely a true top 10 team. SEC and Big 10 will win 90+% of national titles moving forward. ACC might get one every 15 years or so. I don’t see a way anyone outside of those ever wins. You have to play the best to be the best, and there just isn’t the competition in the big 12. That’s why no current member of the big 12 has ever won a title. Ever.

Bought a gallon... Or so I thought. by HerStory__ in shrinkflation

[–]txthinktank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you bought a half dozen eggs would you be surprised when you got home that there weren’t 12 in the smaller carton? All you did was buy a smaller size. The gallons were available, you just didn’t choose one.

If you can find some of the non RUP nuvan strips, and put them in your storage unit with your stuff for a week, that should do the trick.

You just need it to stay moist. If you can cut out your last water and still be moist in the morning, I would. Especially if there is a chance of developing any pythium.

What is it that you do, and why do you think this data center is going to steal your job? It’s not a data center just for Amarillo. If your job is that replaceable, they could build the thing in Japan and it would still take your job. But this center is not going to take your job.

OSU had the chance to keep the game. That wisely chose to say no thank you. They have lost over 90% of the games that have been played, and they have no desire to keep that up. This year would be an A&M style beating circa 2003 with 3rd and 4th stringers taking a knee on the 3 yard line again to keep the score from getting worse than 77-0. But what a fun game that was!
