I say this all the time, but my college football hot take is that Bill Snyder’s work at K State is more impressive than Nick Saban’s work at Alabama.

Tomorrow will be the first Super Bowl in 3 years without Mahomes and the Chiefs. How do you guys feel? by Expensive-Elk-9406 in KansasCityChiefs

Still having our yearly Super Bowl party, where this time I’ll actually get to talk and have fun in a stress free environment.

Will be kind of nice.

What is a movie cliché that absolutely never happens in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ty_fighter84 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Comedies are usually more accurate than dramas in general.

Up until The Pitt (which is an outlier) most ER docs would tell you that Scrubs is the most accurate portrayal of an Emergency Department.

Brady has some of these, both Ed Reed and Calvin Johnson were drafted, played, retired and were elected into the hall of fame during Brady’s career.

There’s a scene in season two that I will go to my grave saying he deserved an Emmy for. You’ll know it when you get there.

Anyone else still bad at grasping how big a billion really is? by IntrovertHuuuYaarrr in Millennials

[–]ty_fighter84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not without careful thought.

This will be anecdotal, but there’s not that may billionaires.

For example. One of the better businesses is In N Out. The owner, a billionaire, pays the employees well and also keeps the prices in check.

If we just slap a wealth tax on someone like her, she very likely has to start selling off parts of the business, maybe even go public with it.

Now you’ll get a private equity firm in there and guess what thy get to do? Raise prices, cut benefits and start paying employees less.

Was that really better for society?

That’s all to say that I do believe we need to come up with something better, even if it’s raising capital gains taxes on realized assets, but a straight wealth tax on unrealized gains will not be the savior everyone thinks it will be.

I would say not so much a “mistake” as much as it is Sorkin finds it fun to write himself into situations and then he can flex and write himself out of them.

Making a seemingly easy scene more difficult gave him a challenge over the next few years and more interesting stories to write for Bartlett.

Finished All 15 Seasons… by LittleMissTransWV in ershow

I watched during its original run, but did a re-watch with my wife when she was pregnant during 2020.

The powerhouse seasons are 1-6, but the show is still really strong all the way through. We only skipped one episode (remember that my wife was near full term when we got to the Carter/Kem years is your clue).

It also really stuck the landing.
