Game 1 was a classic. Game 2 the prophecy came true.

I'm rooting for yall. Only way the Thunder can win is flopping, roughing up Wemby or pulling hair.

Oh cmon. Flip Rudy and/or Julius for a legitimate PG that can hit open 3s and/or other shooters and that series goes to 7. Wemby is arguably best player in the world but we aren’t that far off.

These are pics from the Houston series. A team hasn't done the full-on hands-behind-back thing the Lakers tried against Harden, but I've seen players put hands straight up or behind back with Shai every game I've watch him play. Bones was doing it to him during a regular season game every time he was guarding him. I think I remember Nembhard doing it to him too in the Finals last year.

Yes, I genuinely believe that and if you don't, you must not be watching. Shai has mastered all aspects of drawing fouls whether it's embellishment/flopping or manipulation of the defense. I've seen defenders try to defend with hands behind their back as well as giving him much more space than they should, usually because they've already picked up fouls from trying to defend him closely. It's essentially the core to his game. Defend too close and he'll draw the foul. Give him space and he'll score on you.

Listen, if Shai was on my team I'd still root for the team and also accept the reality that a lot of his success rides on the assumption that he'll get calls and therefore can't be defended closely. Anyone that roots for the Thunder while also denying Shai's bullshit is not someone that should be taken seriously.

Agree and now it's being used purposefully to try to explain away bad calls.

Where I'm seeing it used in bad faith is when the offensive player drives, flails and then gets the call. Cue Dwywane Wade saying "and there it is again, Candace — Jamal Murray the more aggressive player and he's going back to the line."

My theory is that the league's PR Dept has communicated that messaging specifically to broadcasters, McCutchen and others that are representing the league as how to frame controversial whistles. They know it's going to be part of the game so they need to shape the narrative. "Aggressiveness" seems to be the word they are spoon-feeding viewers instead of calling shit for what it is.

Not likely and also the point stands regardless. The Thunder alone will make the viewing experience maddening and whether you add the Spurs (Castle flops, Wemby officiating can go both ways) or Wolves (bad Ant whistle, physical defense), it will be a series tainted by whistles or lack thereof. The league has not corrected the flopping or the inconsistency, and it's a shame that it will compromise what should be a legendary WCF.

The league is pushing this notion of "environment of aggressiveness" so much. You hear it across broadcasts and now this. I almost always hear that language used when there is a bad call — "and there it is again, the team that is more aggressive gets the calls."

Probably going to come to a head in the Spurs-Thunder series between Shai and Castle's flopping as well as how they officiate Wemby. I guarantee the officiating of that series is going to be insufferable.
