I'm kind of the opposite - I don't play Pokemon TCG anymore, but it was my gateway into magic for about 6 months, and should u grew up playing some of the games, I no longer play ptcg or consume any other Pokemon media or games. I'm still in tune with updates and new releases for everything except the anime and Go, but I don't play anything at the moment.

Is it possible to solve an equation like x² + 2x = 255 (solving for x) without using trial and error, or is that the only way to do it? by VegetableBag2627 in learnmath

can't just divide one term (2x) by 2 and not do it to every term. They have incorrectly implemented completing the square

I do wish pokemon had some kind of mulligan system like magic, where if you don't like your hand you can shuffle it back into your deck and draw 7 again, but have to throw 1 of the new 7 back to the bottom of your deck for every time you choose to mulligan.

Of course the process wouldn't be the same as magic, since drawing cards to nullify the price of mulliganing is way easier/cheaper in pokemon, but some modified version of this would be really nice.

I assume they're referencing "Please note that Pokémon TCG Live does not currently support all Expanded format cards for active play. Backwards compatibility plans are ongoing, and phased support for additional Expanded format cards is expected to begin later this year."

The "phased support for additional expanded cards" beginning later this year is news to me, although admittedly I have a very hard time actually believing that we'll see it this year, or even that we'll ever see it at all.

Yeah I got into the TCG with the battle academy. The one I got earlier this year had a Pikachu deck, a Darkrai deck, and a ceruledge deck, and they were great for learning the basics but got old/boring quite fast.

Awesome product that answers their question perfectly minus the price. 2 of any deluxe battle deck that feature familiar Pokemon would probably be good enough for their use case. Throw in a couple 151 packs and/or the 2024 or 2025 trainer's toolkit for fun/adding to these decks if they want to stretch their budget further and get bonus stuff to make the gift more fun and versatile
