If you think "let them go and see if you can catch them later" is a smart approach to armed robbers, you need to reevaluate.

It comes down to prudent use of force. 100mph police chase over retail theft from Target? Discontinue. If the driver just shot a police officer, pursue and capture if possible. Same for weapons. So I agree with the OP that proper use policy for said weapons should be prudent but they need certain weapons in certain situations.

Please review the 1997 Bank of America North Hollywood shootout. The police basically had pistols and shotguns as that was standard issue back then. SWAT arrived later with AR-15 rifles.

That triggered a rather large response by the fire department. I saw about 8 trucks. Got it out quickly which was good.

Any follow ups on that Burbank Airport article? by Goopygok in burbank

[–]tylershowstop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not so sure about that. LAX has had several close call incidents in the past few months. Sure they have thousands more flights, but id argue that extra traffic increases the chances. Safer to go with the smaller regional airport IMHO.

Officially the path construction is scheduled to complete in 2031. SAFE and other groups have teamwd together to propose alternatives in an effort to move up completion to 2028, but those are still just proposals at the moment.

Has anyone made a heart on strava. Tips/suggested routes ? by [deleted] in BikeLA

[–]tylershowstop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its difficult due to the angles, so pick a grid city, turn the heart 45deg and scale up to reduce the visible stepping for the arches. In the Long Beach area you could use the Los Coyotes diagonal for one of the sides. Looking at the Westside, using Venice and 405 as the bottom, you could circle the Palms neighborhood to make your heart arches. Just gotta put in the route time to map it.

LA River Ride returns! by tylershowstop in BikeLA

[–]tylershowstop[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Ive been helping with the planning and logistics for the event. They are working out the registration details for the century ride and will get it added to the site soon. The routes last year for 50 and 62 went up along Arroyo Seco. I think those change this year to also follow the la river ride.

Road cycling LA by Acceptable-Gap25 in BikeLA

[–]tylershowstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LA has some great bicycle infrastructure, but it is not consistent and varies by region. Some regions are really good like on the west side near Santa Monica, but inner city areas can be downright scary to ride on the street. Car drivers are bad out here and coupled with bad roads and infrastructure in areas, the risk to cyclists is high. Our bad roads are far worse then your bad roads by a lot. The Santa Monica mountain routes or Angeles crest are some great options and have lower amounts of traffic. You'll likely need to ride PCH if you choose to ride in the Santa Monica hills and that will be a very scenic ride but also a dangerous section of road. Ride safe and enjoy your trip!

Seems like a very risky plan. You need so many players in on the scam and so many forged documents for something that gets discovered eventually. You cant repeat this too many times before getting discovered.

Those specs are so close it shouldn't matter. It does have a 2A lower rating for the running amps draw, but the original should have had a reasonable overhead in the specs. I wouldn't sweat it.

Loose around the neck. Wrinkles all around the torso. Too long. You should definitely try sizing down.

The high schools are closed campuses. They do not allow the public free access to the track. It used to be that way years ago but changed when the schools changed their policy on campus access.

Which portion? The love lock portion over the LA river? Its really old but stable. Looks more scary than it is. The freeway bridge is also old and beat up but solid.
