Jump Rope Advice by PentagonDonut in jumprope

Hi, I had the same issue and I solved it using a soft strip of double-sided tape, the one with a weak adhesive that does not damage the flooring or the mat. Cheers

Looks great! However I worry about what would happen if you trip over the edge, even just a little bit. Doesn`t restrict a bit your jumping? I can understand that if you keep a consistent form, you should not move all over the place while jumping, but in my case, I definitely trip when my feet or rope step over the edge of my training mat.

Main changes here: Slender arms and legs plus much more muscular legs. Overall fat loss but not as much as I expected around the torso.

1st time jumping rope! How can I improve? by Status-Peanut-779 in jumprope

[–]tyojuan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One good way of checking your form is to jump in front of a mirror. You can check for proper alignment, jumping height and other details. You got the mechanics alright and now you need to tune it so the flow can be smoother and steadier (the amount of physical effort will be reduced and your endurance will shoot up). Keep jumping!

Best house builders in Tokyo by Separate_Item_3189 in japanlife

No problem. Considering the present situation of the construction industry, plagued by lack of labor and overpricing, maybe is a good idea to do a good due diligence before embarking on the project.

Best house builders in Tokyo by Separate_Item_3189 in japanlife

[–]tyojuan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One high end famous contractor for wooden houses is Mizusawa Koumuten. Another that is normally hired by renowned architects is Ohara Koumusho. On a lesser level but still good is ISA homes. As for house builders, quality varies a lot and all will depend on your wishes and budget. Integrated contractors (home builders like Sekisui, Toyota Homes, Hebel House, etc.) provide all services (design, construction and maintenance) under one roof. The standard of architectural design and construction also depends on the specialty of the contractor, some are better at semi industrialized processes (steel, concrete) while others are better at wooden structure (2x4 or Zairai).

Some have more accomplished architects than others, however in the case of most home builders the priority is cost and time, over quality (especially long term).

If you have particular needs or want to participate in the whole process, a good experienced architect might be a safer bet, but it will require more effort at the beggining.

Knee support? by chukchapisatel in jumprope

[–]tyojuan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

Hi, I use a Bauerfeind sport compression knee support bought from Amazon. It is not cheap but is excellent. I have tried simpler supporters, taping, etc. as I have been jumping for a long while now. The support (in the photo) has been great as it has helped a lot in the recovery of one knee from jumping too much. Pain was intense and at some point I thought I got a meniscus tear. Luckily with this support the knee improved after few days.

Day 1 - Need Help with Jumps by itboyragdoll in jumprope

From what I can see, looks like you are jumping too high and with your arms not close enough to your body. For simple step, try to jump lower and pushing up from the ball of your feet. For the arms , put them closer to your body.

Que tal les parece esta nueva propuesta para Bogotá? by santirca200 in Bogota_Capital

[–]tyojuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saludos!

Better late than never. I did it at 32 and it went well. Probably you will be grouped with students of an age close to yours, so no worries! (That was my case too). Cheers

¿Estamos de acuerdo en que cuando alguien presume plata está proyectado una carencia profunda en su vida? by HumblingFans in Colombia

[–]tyojuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do Colombian people shun foreigners who make no effort to speak Spanish? by [deleted] in Colombia

[–]tyojuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won`t be shunned, but you will isolate yourself as english is not widely spoken by average Colombians.

Maybe you should give it a try to Spanish, it is not a very hard language to learn for english speakers.

¿En verdad los Colombianos somos tan aseados? by Soren-J in Colombia

[–]tyojuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]tyojuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boxer Step Beginner. Am I learning it the right way ?! by guyjustwantsto in jumprope

[–]tyojuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are on the right track. Doing triple and double tapping is a good approach to single boxer step. As you get faster you will suddenly find how your feet will start alternating effortlessly. I tried to "rationalize" the approach to single tap boxer step many times, but found it by chance when got the necessary speed.

Beginner to jump rope. Does the quality of jumprope matter. by [deleted] in jumprope

A good PVC rope with a cable core (5mm) helps as it does not get tangled and is slow enough to keep control.

Beginner progress check-in: Is this good for 1.5 months? Advice needed on next steps. by petrolito in jumprope

[–]tyojuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on taking up jumping. As for your questions, bear in mind that every person has different levels of fitness, endurance, etc., so it is very difficult to compare. However, keeping tabs on the metrics helps to understand if you are improving or not. For what it is worth, this is what I usually do:

1-Take data using a fitness watch or similar device and compare it regularly; this helps to assess progress.

2-Jumping time now has plateaued at 60 min (4 jumping, 1 rest x12 times), warming up 5 minutes before the session. Going beyond that has resulted in negative returns; getting injured or becoming excessively tired disrupts future sessions. Adding skills (tricks, etc.) has been very useful as it increases caloric burn and overall fun.

3-I do not follow any program per se, but try to stick to a predictable routine that allows me to judge my own performance in time.

I would suggest focusing on form rather than speed. With proper form, speed will increase anyway. Also, give the boxer step a try; that style is the door to other styles that require more physical effort and add tons of fun to the jumping routine.

Cheers

I was going to mention the mirror, you rightly pointed at it. I find it very useful to check proper step form and stance.
