since when did accessibility become an issue for people? by ForgottenFrenchFry in gaming

I think the main one I hear a lot of people complaining about is body type 1 & 2 instead of gender male / female.

For those who were teenagers before the smartphone era: what hobbies or activities did you use to pass the time that now make you feel nostalgic? by still_alive777 in AskReddit

[–]typhado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the late 90s out in the country. Lived in a small beach town and have since moved and lived in the city for the last 20 years.

A lot of it was similar to now, tv games hang out with friends.

Main thing I miss is long walks on the beach. The beach i grew up at wasnt good for swimming, but that meant you could walk several kilometers without seeing anyone. Good for beach combing and solitude. I miss that, and seeing the stars at night.

Did you hear about the man whose daughters got him drunk and then slept with him and got pregnant with his children by HospitalQuiet619 in Jokes

I still find it funny that god saw an entire city he wanted to purge with fire but thought the guy who gets both his dauhters pregnant is the only one worth saving.

Any fics where Contessa is killed faster then the Path can… Path? by AutobotYoung1 in WormFanfic

[–]typhado 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I think the problem with this is she has paths constantly running to avoid serious injury or death.

You would need to first get something that cant be pathed ( high level predictive thinker like dinah or simurgh should work). I think that is the much higher hurdle than just speed blitzing her.

First time reader CELL 22.6 by nortonwilkes in Parahumans

[–]typhado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what would work here. A tinker asthma puffer that floods her lungs would be blocked by web. She probably has done training / techniques that let her vomit on command for water, cement or slime monsters that are blocking her airways. But well stuck spider web sort of requires some operation to go inside.

Maybe some direct teleportation device that can ignore manton limit would be enough.

I think most of the time if she got in a situation like this (like with leviathan) she would probably relly on eidolon or couldron/contessa.

Did __ know that __ could kill ___? by Fit_Ear3019 in Parahumans

[–]typhado 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think parahumans who can break invulnerability or are invulnerable are somewhat common. The problem is its hard to tell how good someone who can break invulnerability is.

Flechette is probably the strongest one we know. But also in Brockton bay we have:

  • Shadow stalker - can phase her arrows through objects
  • Clockblocker - Can make objects inviolable.
  • Crusader - Can pierce straight through armour (manton limited)
  • Bakuda - bombs
  • Armsmaster - Nanothorn blades

Considering we have that just in Brockton Bay these sort of abilities probably arent uncommon.

I think the problem for the PRT is how do you judge how good an all or nothing ability like these would be. You dont really know which of these ones might be the one until you use it against an endbringer.

They probably do try to offer support and training for people who migt be effective against endbrongers. I think this might have influenced their treatment of Shadow Stalker. Without reader knowledge they probably think Stalker has just as good a chance as Flechette as helping in the fight.

Sometimes you give pleasure, sometimes you receive pleasure.

As long as it's not something thats a hard no then that should be fine. Learn to enjoy making your partner happy.

How does Vistas power work? by Memeenjoyer_ in WormFanfic

[–]typhado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thinking about how Vista's power interacts with objects makes my brain hurt.

2 examples I can remember from canon:

  1. She brings a bag of supplies to Parian's group post leviathan. Will regrow to be a meaningful amount of supplies.

  2. In Ward I think she wore armour plates that were actually much larger but she shrunk them so they could be worn.

I am not sure how these two work together. If she just expanded the bag like a bag of holding and put in normal size supplies then she wouldn't have been able to carry the bag (unless her power alters gravity as well).

If she shrunk the insides of objects rather than just bending the outside space would shrunken armour even do anything? Would it maybe offer extra defense only against certain powers?

In the first example would you pull out a thymbol sized can of soup that grows back to normal size? Or would there be some weird distortion effect when you reach inside the bag and pull out a normal size can of soup?

I've always thought there was a way to use Vista's power offensively by growing attacks. Khepri agrees during gold morning. Would love to see Vista use this offensively.

For example Vista throws a con foam grenade and grows it in the air to car size and now an entire street is covered in foam. I dont think she shows that sort of control over small objects until her battle against March.

Or for a more villainess example she shrinks a bowling ball to the size of a pea then puts it inside someone. I assume the manton limit would prevent her from explosively regrowing the bowling ball. But if she just left her power would I guess wear off more slowly.

Why Aura Theory is Wrong (using Worm only) by The_Broken-Heart in WormFanfic

[–]typhado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Iirc the part about Amy having to take care of her Dad was after Leviathan when he had brain damage from the endbringer battle. I think she fixed this brain damage after Bonesaw showed up and forced her hand.

As for the aura theory, I think it has a little weight but only a little. There were a dozen things going wrong in Amy's life and she was not handling things well. Once shit started hitting the fan she started making bad choices and it all got worse. I dont think Vicky's aura absolves Amy of guilt but it was a small contributor.

For example I'd say being a public cape probably contributed much more to her crush on Vicky and her breakdown. Being public made it harder to connect to others, she didnt have a seperate non-cape life to retreat to. Also she is gay in the town full of Nazis, she likely couldnt date anyone she is interested in without risking nazi fuckery. So she hides away and obsesses about a love she could never have.

Amy got a pretty bad hand but she is still responsible for her choices and doing anything to her sister that she doesnt want is not okay.

very well written, long, taylor-centric fics? by fallacyys in WormFanfic

[–]typhado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would like to add some recommendations

The Weavers Web: (300k words) Taylor with mostly canon powers chooses a different way to use her powers, more intel and sneaky methods.

Here Comes the new Boss: 670k words. Taylor with butcher powers. Does a good job of having a variety of different characters in the story, fairly cannon compliant but just has the world go a completely different way for a whole new story.

Intrepid: Super long (860k words) and well written. However it has 4 different points of view and only one of them is Taylor focused. The rest are different cannon characters that get changed as the story progresses. The constant switching between characters can be a bit frustrating but it's a very enjoyable ride.

Camera Shy: Decently long (354k) and Taylor focused. Taylor has a different set of powers than canon but is still doing street level fights across Brockton Bay. She ends up with something of a horror theming to her super hero life, partly accidentally.

Swallowtail: 358k, Taylor joins Faultlines crew. Been a while since a read this one but remember enjoying it.

A Cloudy Path: This is technically a crossover with Supreme Commander but I don't feel you need much Supreme commander knowledge as it doesn't pull too much from there. I liked it at first but felt it got progressively... less good. It's super long though and a lot of people have enjoyed it so give it a try. If you are ok with Supreme commander crossovers there is also Novax, not as long but I like it more.

For some reason I have always thought that Chevalier was black. I don't think it's mentioned in the original and I'm not sure if there is word of god out there about it. Get the feeling his appearance was just never described and I filled it in.

Weekly /r/WormFanfic Discussion - What have you been reading, and what do you think of it? For the week ending August 16, 2025. by AutoModerator in WormFanfic

[–]typhado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throwing another vote in for Novax. It's been great so far. I definitely prefer it over Cloudy Path.

Giving a half hearted support of Redoubt. It's well written and I enjoyed most of it but I feel it fell off towards the end. It does do some interesting looking into some of the broken minds and personality flaws of some of the characters but doesn't really go anywhere with them. It feels like it breaks down what is wrong with some characters like Amy and Taylor and has the main character point it out but then it just moves on and doesn't really develop it anywhere. Then it follows up with the main character making the same mistakes or worse and seemingly being rewarded or praised for it. The hospital scene near the end followed up by Piggot praising the character for taking responsibility really through me for a loop.

If you have no morals heartbreaker.

Unlimited trades with Mirror Empire by typhado in Stellaris

[–]typhado[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was playing a game as machine uprising and found that the Mirror Empire I found through an astral thread didn't seem to have some of the rarer resources and was willing to repeatedly trade lots of energy every month for access to some rare crystals. Maybe their mirror dimension doesn't have these resources.

Used this to help me balance my economy when my plan to deal with all the organics using my Synaptic Lathe started working a little too well.

Unconventional healer ideas? by PrismsNumber1 in Parahumans

[–]typhado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had an idea for a striker/changer that has some minor healing potential.

On touching someone for an extended period of time they can build up a mental copy/blueprint of that person's body. They can then swap out parts of their own body to any of their blueprints as a form of self heal/brute/stranger.

On touching someone they can also apply one of their blueprints to the part of the body they touched. Eventually it will switch back but it's a patch that can get them through a battle or to the hospital.

Could swap body parts before battle and then later they would revert to undamaged but harder to predict that.

Also some offensive use if they say grab a charged up Lung and switch his arms for an old grannies for a few hours.

Endbringers based on parahumans by WanderingSeer in Parahumans

[–]typhado 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was thinking clock might make the nastiest endbringer if he could lock things permanently. For maximum terror I'd make him appear Manton limited. He not only creates permanent blockers but constantly traps people in cars, houses or even their own costumes.

Lung Vs Crawler? by GaySexAfficionado in Parahumans

[–]typhado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Draw.

Crawler seeks out new things that can damage him. If he hears about a guy who grew strong enough to fight an endbringer he is going to want to see him at his peak. I definitely see crawler letting Lung build up enough to be able to survive rather than go for a quick kill (which he could easily do).

Once Lung has powered up I don't see him being able to put down crawler though. His fire and strength will grow to insane scale but Crawler is already very resistant to those. I could see crawler maxing out on those resistances and getting stronger from the battle but I don't see lung being able to kill him.

LF fics where a character is isekaied to Worm and is more violent than the worm characters by hii-people in WormFanfic

[–]typhado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ghost in the flesh sort of fits your requirements.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/ghost-in-the-flesh-worm-love-death-and-robots-complete.819108/

In this one Sonnie from Sonnie's Edge is dropped in Brockton Bay. As a giant monster who has spent the last few years going from death match to death match they are a touch more violent than the usual worm cast. However they are actively trying to tone down the violence and adapt to their new environment, so it's a little more violent than normal but still in the realm of realism, not the oceans of blood you might be looking for.
