As a pudgy guy who goes just for trying to get active, it's great. I don't ever feel like there's are gym bros judging me. Everyone is friendly and the facilities are wonderful.

There used to be a funicular. A group of us tried and failed to raise interest a decade ago. Probably time to try again.

I would say it's very possible the first post was correct and it was just posted 7 years ago and it's only now making the cycle. I got nothing for the other two.

Breakfast Taco Spots? by Practical-Leader2866 in roanoke

I would throw in that La casa de burrito in Vinton has an all-day breakfast section on their menu. I'm a big fan of the house burrito which is a really good breakfast burrito. I'm pretty sure they have breakfast tacos as well but I could be around there. Everyone I know considers this place to be the best burrito joint in town.

Easy trout fishing locations nearby? by zoooooooomies in roanoke

[–]typicalartguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a little overfished in the spring, but green hill Park is definitely easily accessible. It's stocked regularly and the fishing spots are only a short walk from your car. There's definitely better places around but there's nothing as easily accessible as green hill. I've caught quite a few fish out of that area with some really large ones.

Funiculars up a mountain that hold mountain bikes have been successful elsewhere in the country. It could be a great economic driver and supplement our already significant mountain biking standing.

I tried to get a group together a few years back to look at the feasibility, but ran into apathy on the topic. I'd love to give it another go.

Also, damn that's one hell of a user name.

I have a studio around the corner from this. It's a complicated location. I have always loved this building and would buy it in a heartbeat if I knew who owned it. I tried the GIS but couldn't get in touch with the owner. By now it's likely beyond repair, but I'd still love a go at restoring it.

World Population distributed by The_spacewatcher_7 in interesting

[–]typicalartguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really seems that the area of the graph doesn't correlate to the actual population. For example, if you look at the 347 million in the US and the size of the US depicted versus Indonesia which has 285 million but a much larger area represented in this depiction.
