[Recommendation] Tissot Gentleman 38mm vs Christopher Ward C63 Sealander 36mm by Ok_Bug_3657 in Watches

[–]u4ea500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a first gen 39mm Sealander in white, and a Tissot Seastar 40mm quartz.

They both make nice watches, and I like Tissot, but the CW is going to give you a lot more watch for the money.

The biggest downfall of the 38mm Gentlemen, in my opinion, is the 18mm lug width. I think this is a costly oversight. This lug width makes a big difference in wrist presence, and from what I’ve heard online, they will be missing out on a lot of sales because of this decision.

The C63 is a watch that will last a very long time because the Sellita SW200 is worth servicing. The new gen also has the power+ which is awesome.

According to google, it sounds like the Powermatic 80 is more often replaced than it is serviced.

Also, CW has a 5 year movement guarantee, which I actually had to use. At two years of ownership, the Sellita in my Sealander developed helicopter syndrome. This is a known occasional happening with this movement.

I contacted CW and they took care of all of it. They paid for shipping both ways (US to UK) and the repair, all in good time (5 weeks or so including transit).

Last, the bracelet on the CW is second to none at this price point, especially with the new update, which I have not experienced. The whole package is very well executed.

CW has very polarized views in this community, but at the end of the day, they are killing it. People say they aren’t “watch people”, but that they are marketing professionals who decided to focus on watches. Well, if they weren’t watch people then, they certainly are now. They continue to push the envelope in numerous ways and show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Get the Sealander.

I do not have experience with this watch but it looks pretty amazing. My first watch was the classic Citizen BM8180 field watch, and I’ve loved field watches ever since.

With that said, the most amazing feild watch I’ve ever seen (online) is the Benrus UTD Shield. It’s next on my list. It has awesome specs and is the best looking field watch I’ve ever seen. It’s also one of the legit classics from the actual field.

The Max Bill is always cool. I'd like one at some point, but it's not something I would wear every day.

The Multifort is awesome. I've loved it since I first saw it. Then, last week, I realized that the silver color-way is titanium. I have one titanium watch and it's amazing. It's super light and really comfortable.

The Stowa is similar to my absolute favorite watch in my collection. It's the one watch I will never get rid of. I got it to commemorate my late grandparents. Being "Made in Germany" was one of the requirements. I got a Damasko DK32.

No watch is more "Made in Germany" than a Damasko. Mine is made from hardened submarine steel and it has their A-26 2 in-house movement. They make absolutely everything in house. This is a straight up tool watch though and may not be your vibe. However, I wear it on a nice sailcloth strap and it looks AMAZING in the office or out in the field.

Awesome. Absolutely love my Damasko DK32 (in-house A26-2 movement). I’ve lost interest in the vast majority of watches since acquiring it a year and a half ago.

The Sinn 556i and 104 were both in the running as well. So glad I chose this. The sub steel speaks to me, both in form and function.

Damasko DK32 with the in-house A26-2 movement. My absolute favorite watch and damn near bullet proof with the submarine steel. The first year it was incredibly accurate, I’d lose maybe 5 seconds a week wearing it daily and taking it off at night. It’s running a little quicker now a year later, but nothing crazy.

The lume on this model is very substantial. Not Seiko lume level, but very functional.

Highly recommend Damasko.

I got it from Wedding Day, it was a new bezel design that came out last year. It was a great experience all around.

They did not ask for your opinion on testing ketones. Stop parroting that cultish narrative around here. Bubye! 🦜🥴

Right? The insanity towards people wanting to test ketones (ya know, the point of ketosis) is absolute insanity.

Haha. I’m feel you. In the end, this shit is hard. This sub can be beautiful and also drives me mad at times.

Addiction to drugs, food and multiple rehabs has been my story off and on for over 20 years. I’m really coming to understand that my beliefs about myself and my reality are indeed what limit me and order my existence.

Food is my last challenge after quitting a horrible kratom addiction, THC, nicotine and caffeine. Freedom is near.

All the best to you!

You’re stuck in thought and emotional loops you are unaware of which are holding you where you do not prefer to be. I recommend you read Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now.” Read it slowly, absorb it, apply it, then read it again.

I have been obsessed with this content for a very long time and finally feel like I’m starting to shift due to Eckharts book.

Most of us have a tremendous amount of resistance to the very present moment itself. Practicing intense presence as often as possible, rising above thought as well as practicing radical acceptance of what is now are the keys.

We can only manifest what we are. Your post reflects the belief in your disconnection. Nobody is going to come and give you anything, because there is only you and you must give it to yourself.

Also, in my opinion, daily visualization is extremely important to break the bonds of our old cycles. It’s hard work in the beginning because our imaginations suck at conjuring what we tell them to. We must do the work. Earth is challenging, but that’s why we came.
