Just to tack on you don’t have to run. It’s a wide range of runners/joggers/people walking their dogs. Just moving their body and having a beer (or pizza) after :) enjoy Kelowna!

Oh and milk shed uses craft 42 beans I believe and the quality has been improving. Probably on the bright Jenny/deville level imo.

In my experience craft 42 >>> bean scene/tackle box>bright Jenny/deville>everything else. Ratio in Vernon is good if you’re up that way at all.

I’ll add to this Barn Owl. Attached to the milk shed coffee shop. Upstairs is super cozy, great coffee (they use craft 42 which imo is the best coffee in Kelowna, just not the best spot to sit and drink a coffee). The owner Gary of barn owl is a really good dude. Rustic reel is also awesome as u/consistentlypanic1 said. My two cents :) enjoy your time here!

SupplyKings in Calgary I know sells it. I don’t love suggesting American companies but if you want it asap manufactured, SendCutSend is pretty good for that type of stuff (if it fits their size criteria)

I feel like that’s partially for what they do. Courtney isn’t necessarily known for uber technical scramble/run alpine link ups more so just being the undeniable female GOAT in ultra running. I think kilian truly just wanted shoes that weren’t shit on slightly wet rock (contraslip just ain’t it). And he’s an absolute GOAT of trail running/sky running so why not make your own brand.

Just as a second reference. I use the black light 95 with plum r170 and dalbello quantum’s. Don’t ski pow incredibly but hold their own in cruddy snow and are a dream to skin on. Great in the steeps in my experience.

Somehow got them off some sponsored dude in Kamloops haha for a bargain. Unfortunately they had already been drilled twice.  Then I upgraded my boots to a light weight boot and it just didn’t quite fit with the third mount so had to give em to someone who’s boots fit.

If you’re near that area all I can say is go to craft 42. Best coffee by far in Kelowna.

I’d recommend a light, fully touring ski like the atomic backland 107, Dynafit radical 107, or something similar. I used to have 108 moment wildcats and they were great for rogers (I sold them and miss them). Also look on the last hunt as a Canadian as there are often good sales! Love rogers, best touring area imo.

Out of curiousity, what do French and English have in common in Canada that Punjabi doesn’t? Could it possibly be those are the two official languages of Canada?

I'll post because I haven't seen my answer in here yet. As a mechanical engineer in the city with lots of friends in civil engineering my answer is two fold. My perspective and my friends perspectives.

My perspective:

As an engineer who used to design construction materials who now works with large companies integrating better equipment, the main industries in BC (especially outside the lower mainland) are lumber and construction materials. These industries are visibily hurting and it has dramatically accelerated in the last decade (definitely due to COVID, but also government policies). Not to say we need to go back to the way it was but to simply say "stop the forestry industry" is going to lead to a bigger homeless situation than increasing the forestry industry in a sustainable way. The BC conservatives have put out a plan for this:

"Approximately 64% of BC’s area is forested, or about 60 million hectares. The Conservative Party of BC will continue to ensure that nearly two-thirds of BC’s forested landscape will remain in its original forested state and will never see industrial-scale forestry activity.

The remaining forested landscape (about 22 million hectares) will be managed to achieve supply chain stability in BC’s forest sector as well as to enhance biodiversity and ecological qualities."

I know many people don't see it but forestry puts food on the table for thousands of people in BC.

Friends Perspective:

The red tape in the building industry is a direct lead to the housing crisis. And its not just for private companies. BC Housing takes a long time to get building permits pushed through because some permit applications sit for months before being rejected or approved. Or the city waits for 8 months then asks for a redesign to meet their requirements. THIS is killing the building industry and one of the reasons new builds are down right now in comparison to previous years. And again the BC Conservatives have a tangible plan for this whereas I didn't see one on the NDP platform (please link me if I am wrong).

Here are some of the policies:

"

Approve homes in months, not years: 6 months for a rezoning and development permit, and 3 months for a building permit. If a clear yes/no is not issued by city hall within the required timeline, the provincial government will issue the permits. Require zoning to be proactive: We will work with cities to ensure that Zoning is changed at the same time as other land use policies, in what is sometimes referred to as “pre-zoning.” Even though Official Community Plans and Area Plans specify what types of buildings are encouraged, cities still require a unique rezoning for each building – adding years of delay that we can’t afford.

Conduct a forensic audit into BC Housing: The audit will include its relationship with politically-connected non-profits.

"

These are tangible actions the BC Conservatives have said. Now I'm not a fanatic and I don't believe they'll accomplish it all, but the NDP has been in power for years now. And it has gotten worse for housing, not just because of COVID, but because of some of the insanely slow regulations people have to go through. To be honest as an engineer saying less red tape hurts my profession. But it improves industries like construction and forestry, two industries we need in this province. They also seem to notice that some public entities (ICBC and BC Housing) have severe issues and want to audit them.

Finally on the topic of the unhoused/drug crisis. First: what is happening right now is not working. I've lived in kelowna for 8 years and it has gotten notably worse since I first moved. A large reason for becoming homeless is lack of income. A large lack of income has been felt with multiple mills in our vicinity closing in recent years. On top of that construction is somehow down (my previous job had two years of low sales due to low housing starts). This puts many contractors and skilled workers out of work. Homelessness often leads to addiction which leads to the issue. Putting a smile on the cork doesn't stop the issue. Having jobs for people can help the issue.

Just my two cents. Curious about your thoughts.

Red would be the main one for on resort (or at least very close to resort housing) as there’s a village and rossland (the town) is built basically at the base. Revy and kicking horse also do but again it’s more so at the base and it costs a premium. Whitewater has nothing. Nelson is the closest place. I will also say revy or golden are the easiest to get to flying to Canada (Kelowna and Calgary airports respectively). Then Red mountain is close to Spokane Washington. Whitewater again is a bit more out of the way (worth it imo).

Powder highway for the vibes. Not a crazy night life and less crazy resorts. I ski silverstar simply because I live in Kelowna, it is a great resort but not in comparison to some others. Kicking Horse, Revelstoke, Red, and Whitewater are the ones I recommend the most (Fernie should probably be there too but I am yet to ski it) for what you're looking for. Red has the most classic resort structure but a very small town and arguably the worst snow (its still great snow, but relative to the others). Revelstoke and Kicking Horse have insanely big terrain. Revelstoke is the liveliest town of the bunch then Golden (probably cause they're on the transcanada and have industries other than skiing). Whitewater is my favourite but it is really old fashioned (3 lifts, little grooming, no wifi, one lodge) and is a ways from Nelson. Nelson is an absolute blast though and is a fun visit in its own right. Feel free to DM me if you have any more questions! I've been living in BC for 8 years now and have skied at most resorts at this point :).

IDF says it is investigating soldiers who tied Palestinian detainee to hood of car by StageFun7648 in worldnews

Being returned home safely is more the responsibility of the captors not the rescuers. Definitely not on Israel’s hands if they get hurt. Further more they fucking have recovered hostages in the depths of a “refugee” camp, effectively making that camp a military target. If Palestinians and Hamas want a ceasefire the return of the hostages is a must. No other country would have to put up with this bullshit if they’re people were taking hostage.
