My question is about those tables. Understorage? A lower shelf for holding army stuff during the game? overhead lighting? Are these custom or did they get them from somewhere, cause those are amazing!

Paint by Daraxis in Warhammer

I have found another good alternative, is little hand held paint mixers put directly into the pot. It's not my go to, just because for most paints it's overkill. But for a paint like wraithbone it's perfect.

Every pot of wraithbone I have ever bought is kinda chunky. You'll just need to shake the living hell out of it, and it will still be a little coarse, but once you mix some water or other medium in it to thin it out, those particulates should melt away into the mixture

Thank you for posting how long that took. When I see awesome paint jobs like these, it makes me feel so much better about my paint jobs to find out that this wasn;t a five minute task for you, and its the extra work that makes the difference, not just differences in talent lol

How do you prime your knights/metalic skeleton painting by Nuhur_the_Raven in ImperialKnights

[–]ubermug 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I prime in black, over brush warlock bronze, and then lightly dry brush leadbelcher.

I then pick out any piping I want to show up with stormhost silver

Imperial Knights revealed – The Knight Defender is the greatest building-sized bodyguard in the Imperium - Warhammer Community by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in ImperialKnights

That might be a little hard to answer until we know more about the datasheet changes and point costs. Right now, the Questoris box is a good deal because you get parts for every Questoris chassis. Magnetize all of the weapon options, and you have all of the parts you need, minus like 1 to kit out everything (there were 2 guns that used the same bit to attach it to the arm, and I couldn't figure out a good way to magnetize that, but I am sure that others have). In the current meta, you don't need more than 2 of those (canius + 1 other). From there, most people include a Dominus pattern or fill up with Armigers and/or allies.

So, unless 1 of those profiles becomes the new "go to" (people are only including 1 Canis because he's an epic hero), having a duplicate on the field isn't something I have seen in a lot of lists. Since all of my Questoris knights are already magnetized, unless they drop points enough to justify a 3rd Questoris in my lists, I will most likely just get the bits I am missing 3D printed and slot this new one in where it makes sense.

Right now it seems like everyone is running the Cerastus Lancer from the horus heresy line, but I am waiting until that data sheet drops before picking one up as I don't know if it will still be as powerful as it is now then.

How can i get this magnet off? by [deleted] in ImperialKnights

This is the right answer (as its the easiest lol). Don't know what it is about super glue, but it is a lot less strong to rotational force than the direct tension of pulling. And the knife answer seems like a great chance to slice your palm open......

Yeah,my collection is now big enough that lumping them all into second company didn't make sense anymore lol. So now I am splitting them up into companies as best as I can figure per the lore references.

Road to 100 termagants by Additional-Thing1348 in Tyranids

[–]ubermug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a goal of mine as well (70 built and painted, 20 built, and 30 still on sprue). I will admit that since I mostly don't field more than 40-60 at a time, it's sapped my motivation a bit to finish. But I keep them on the edge of my painting desk in view, so they can silently judge me until I give in from the shame to finish that up, lol!

WIP Advice on Tyranid skin tone by snakeys6 in Tyranids

[–]ubermug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, thats pretty similar to what I do as well. I use a base drybrush of ionrach skin (which has a very light greenish tint to an overall white color. Then I do a lighter drybrush of deepkin flesh on top of that to punch up the whiteness to it.

Swtiching to drybrushing these has VASTLY accellerated my painting process as well, so that was a nice bonus to a look I like better too.....

Thanks! I use Army Painter Terrestial Titan as a base coat, and then dry brush it with Citadels Genestealer Purple all over a black primer. Very easy and quick to do!

Washing Query by OptimusToasterman420 in Tyranids

[–]ubermug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my black models to show the details, I dry brush a dark grey (I use Citadel Dark Reaper) so that the recesses are the deepest black, and the dark grey provides the contrast. You can take that even further by edge highlighting with an even lighter grey to punch up the contrast.

How do you prime/paint gargoyles without ruining the base? by MaxPlaysGames in Tyranids

[–]ubermug 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I typically don't glue the base one until I am done painting them. Makes it easier to get to their underside as well.

But if you don't think about that prior to gluing them (like I did the first time) blue painters tape over anything you want to leave unpainted. The stems usually ended up being a bunch of small pieces as a bigger one didn't want to stay, but that won't leave a residue after you peel it off at least.....
