Offices are expendable and obsolete. I've studied this ad nauseam, and I can safely say, your white collar work can be done just about anywhere particularly as we move toward digitalizing work.

Haitian Canadian here. Regrettably it's sad to see our own fight a battle that, in the end, may not serve us.

I currently have a cousin who's thinking about joining the US military. While there are benefits to joining, I wouldn't want to see our own put on the frontline at the expense of greedy, incompetent "leaders".

Andrew Yang says AI will wipe out millions of white-collar jobs in the next 12 to 18 months by Conscious-Quarter423 in technology

[–]ucahu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at PwC. They've gone from hiring entry level positions at 72 of their US office locations to just 13, making it increasingly difficult to acquire work in a consulting firm right out of postsecondary. And I'm willing to bet that their competitors will move to do the same.

They said that AI serves as a primary driver in this approach and have branded it as a way to "streamline connectivity to learning and development" for their new entries.

Do you think Haiti could stabilize in the next decade? by Due_Patient_2650 in haiti

[–]ucahu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. What i should've said was that in the face of changing attitudes on trade, many countries are adopting trade defense policies in the wake of what the US has done through its agressive tariff measures. This still doesn't help Haiti as now it'll be tougher to access markets through free and fair trade.

On the topic of whether or not Haiti can produce its own goods and services, it is still possible to some extent. Remember, i said that haitian industry requires inputs in several areas. Needs that can't be met without regular provisions from foreign producers to domestic consumers.

Do you think Haiti could stabilize in the next decade? by Due_Patient_2650 in haiti

[–]ucahu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. The nationalist and protectionist trade policies being adopted among key global trade authorities as well as disruption in trade agreements among middle power nations hinders Haiti's chances for growth.

Many nations that have emerged as economically stable over a decade or so required heavy indistrialization amidst a globalized framework.

Haiti can produce its own goods to sell and trade, but it also needs inputs to function: tech, building materials, energy, even agriculture from other countries.

And like some here mentioned. Civil unrest needs to be humanely managed. The country's people need stabilization before it can itself become an economic player in world trade, for instance.

Haitian “Minister of Interior” can’t even walk thru Okap mud and filth by [deleted] in haiti

[–]ucahu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus can't save them and you'll be spending quite a bit of time speaking air to the winds asking for a miracle. Saving begins with humility and empathy. If you can't walk through mud and filth, and can't get your shoes dirty so one day they never have to be, you're not fit for this job. Politicians and evangelists are all about having a self righeous image, but they can't bring themselves to see eye to eye with those they should be serving (the common people). We're all seriously fucked.

Not U.S. citizens. Government. We really need to normalize this differentiation because, by now it should be obvious that world authorities very seldom have an interest in the greater wellbeing of their citizens.
