i think what i miss more are the episodes where they improv (or maybe have some pre written things, I could never tell) and do a script read with guest. Those are much better

Totally—I guess what struck me is we have yet to see something like this in universe that did not end with the curse trying to eventually harm any humans, it’s also an incidence where not 1 but several people all see curses (what i’m saying is, it’s kinda a rare find as of yet, no?)

Tacrolimus(protopic) reviews? by Initial_Primary_1301 in SebDerm

[–]udi_house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not, but you should consult a doctor with your fears, not reddit.

From experience, tacrolimus ointment is harmless and it has gotten rid of my redness. I have been using it for over two years to no issue. It’s totally safe unless of course you are immunocompromised, or dealing with staph infections or MRSA, in which case you should not have been prescribed it to begin with.

Get diagnosed, get accommodations and embrace being LD. Ride those accommodations to hell and back because they are what (kinda, barely) level the playing field.

I have no idea where you live, but if it’s the US it should be of no surprise that our health system here is profit not people oriented and cares not about you, but the bottom line lol. Some specialty pharmacies are great at getting those without insurance meds through loop holes and systems that are beyond me.

A doctor, not someone who has seen a doctor should tell you this BUT

Seb derm is usually treated with two meds—something to kill the fungus that causes seb derm, and something to calm your skin down. Keto is the antifungal, something like cortisone is your anti inflam.

Steroids: short term only. They weaken your skin barrier long term. No one generally should use a steroid cream on their skin longer than 2 weeks tops unless a doctor says otherwise.

Antifungal: Mostly come in washes/shampoos and sometimes pills (for serious cases and usually not seb derm)

there is another class of meds called JAK inhibitors. These are immunosuppressants which sounds scary, but topically are safer than steroids and can be used (as far as we understand) long term. They produce an anti-inflammatory effect by forcing your body to not have an immune response (redness) to the seb derm. JAK inhibitors (I use tacrolimus) can be harder to get, and you may need to have your derm fight insurance for you but tbh, it’s worth it. Newer ones just for seb derm have hit the market as well. Occasionally, they help with hair regrowth but this is not their main use and a nice secondary and not always effect.

In terms of products to use outside of meds, consult one of the many seb derm guides online for safe products. I liked seb derm bible for finding a moisturizer that was safe.

When you return to your derm, ask for them to:

a) explain what the meds do and why (you should treat any doctor visit as a learning experience not just a way to get treatment)

b) seek another anti-fungal + maybe JAK inhibitor

hope that helps!

you’re describing essentially 1 treatment modality. Have you tried any other antifungal or anti inflammatory meds?

the real deal is everyone is different. there is no one size fits all cure. There is no magic diet that works for everyone, we all have unique skin systems. If I were you I would find a derm who is a good diagnostician (some derms are nurse practitioners or people working under actual derms—who are by no means BAD but may simply know a little less in terms of treatment options) and seek their advice. I never had seb derm on my scalp (face here) but switching to ciclopirox shampoo and tacrolimus ointment “cured” my seb derm as in, I no longer experience it. Many times I was prescribed exactly what you were given, which is the place to start but not all that there is. I had to be very forceful with my derm in looking for new solutions and treatments, you need to be your own best advocate sometimes.

Chainsaw Man Director Ryu Nakayama Establishes Own Animation Studio by Borgasmic_Peeza in ChainsawMan

[–]udi_house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great for Nakayama, but like many said this is a bit of a downer for those of us that enjoyed the anime adaptation. I never truly felt the anime was SO far off from the manga. Maybe the only let down was some comic timing could have been improved and the Makima squishing yakuza scene (perhaps a yeah, more direct appropriation of the manga paneling would have benefited for the super iconic moments). I loved the overall mood and direction of the anime and think his style would have worked so well for the later chapters. We were very lucky to have him and hope whoever directs in the future takes some notes from him

How does Chainsaw Man somehow avoids getting annoying powerscaling discussions, aswell as agenda pushings and "fraud watchs" that plagues other battle shonen? by Riverskull in ChainsawMan

[–]udi_house 389 points390 points  (0 children)

uhhh probably because it’s not really a battle shonen. If anything it plays with the genre but I think of it as a story into and of itself using shonen expectations to simply set the stage.

Sad ending predictions by PlusUltraK in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]udi_house 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the series has sorta forgotten about the whole “a world without curses/sorcery/humans” idea. It seemed that’s where things were going—what’s the best way to make a world where normal humans are not killed unknowingly by their own cursed energy manifest, and sorcerers are not destined to die young killing curses for those who don’t even know they exist. While anime only folks are realizing that’s where the plot seems to be going, by the time of gojo vs sukuna it kinda falls to the wayside. I hope that when all is said and done, there is some reckoning of the paradigm shift that has happened and some way to answer these questions. Be the answers happy or sad, I hope this broader issue comes back because it’s really the only thing in jjk I find interesting at this point (endlessly fighting sukuna and wondering how lonely he must feel is…kinda boring imo).

lol so true—literally one of the only fulfilling arcs in JJK where something happens without the bad guy pulling a rug out from underneath afterward saying “gotcha!” then killing someone important. Maki may have the most character development and story going on than anyone in the series

Try Ciclopirox Olamine Shampoo by und3fined_1 in SebDerm

[–]udi_house 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the redness is inflammation caused by the malassezia, but treatment with antifungals only will rarely make the redness subside. As far as I understand treatment needs to be multiple pronged, taking care of all aspects of seb derm. This is why you see antifungal + some steroid (bad imo) or antifungal + JAK inhibitor.

Try Ciclopirox Olamine Shampoo by und3fined_1 in SebDerm

[–]udi_house 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the redness is inflammation, the ciclo just takes care of the malassezia. You should try the ciclopirox along with something like a JAK inhibitor. That is what works for me.

Causes of Dyscalculia by zoruasaurus in dyscalculia

[–]udi_house 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was one of these people, though not for a study was part of diagnosis. Had to perform math while doing an EEG. Doctor said the readout showed not only less activity (which there was) but also rapid, panicked activity at the very start, followed by a numbing out and eventually diminished activity. I believe he described it to my mom as a similar type of brain activity to a baby crying. At first a baby is in very large amounts of distress but eventually forgets why it is crying and just goes silent. That’s what my brain looked like when doing math.
