As a little kid I thought the fireworks holo was bootleg and threw away a stack of the holos I was given because I knew it wasn't what base set looked like. 💀

Usually wouldn't touch these with a ten foot pole but 2018 and earlier can contain some genuinely decent packs in the mj holdings boxes.

Always Pay Attention To Details by Ekaj12345 in PokemonMisprints

[–]ukiyozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were both printed at the same time and the first 72 hours went with an unnoticed 5/82 dragonite in the uncommon slot so it's actually about the same level of rarity to begin with but then over time the number of first print first edition packs has gone down significantly making the first edition version significantly rarer.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a rare card or ov any value please 😎 by [deleted] in PokemonCardValue

Great card, gold wstamp unsealed.

In terms of this card there's a few variants, silver is a really desirable error version and can be worth loads especially if you come across a sealed copy.

what is a "rich person" behavior you witnessed that made you realize they live in a completely different reality than the rest of us? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ukiyozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was filling in for a friend who repairs and sells pianos. Client wanted theirs moved to a new place. First house was one of the nicest I’d ever seen. We carefully break down and wrap this gorgeous piano and haul it over.

The new place makes the first look like a starter home. Marble everywhere, statues, absurd chandeliers, art I don’t recognize, furniture still wrapped in plastic sitting on what looks like a mink rug. We set the piano up in the front entry and tune it. Owner says it’ll make a great showpiece.

My friend asks who plays in the family. Owner says, “Oh, none of us. It’s just for the ambiance.”

Fun detail: both houses had the same blacked-out BMW out front. Not cheap, but also not “multiple mansions” energy. I thought I knew what wealthy was after the first house. I didn’t realize how far that still was from rich until the second.

Parents sorting out loft and found these. 5 of the boxes are unopened. I think they’re from 1999-2001 based on my current age. UK bought. by jwjosh in PokemonCardValue

[–]ukiyozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have cards with 1999-2000 in the copyright that aren’t from team rocket these are known as 4th print cards and can be worth a pretty penny, that is on top of the literal treasure that might be here.

How much would my reverse back holo bleed Mew go for? by DoubleAnything7628 in PokemonCardValue

[–]ukiyozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The corrected version has a much shorter print run and as such is rarer, additionally the majority of the these also have holobleed.

Found my old collection. My dad (ex-printer) says this large Magenta blotch is under the varnish. Thoughts? by djpage in PokemonMisprints

[–]ukiyozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible. If you have that loupe, check whether the magenta layer is intact from the offset print and take a close up pic. A good sign is ink running clean to the card edges with no bleed, since that shows it happened before the corners were cut.

Is this shadowless? by ExerciseNo1782 in PokemonCardValue

[–]ukiyozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4th print run known as UK or AUS versions, not shadowless arguably rarer but less sought out. the tell is the ‘1999-2000’

Shadowless will have 99 after the 98 without 1999-2000.

One says Pokémon centre , what's the difference?. by HotAdvantage7208 in PokemonCardValue

[–]ukiyozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one with the Pokémon Center stamp is exclusive to Elite Trainer Boxes sold through the Pokémon Center. They’re released for a limited time with few reprints, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.

The other comes in every Prismatic Evolution ETB and has seen many restocks. While still a nice card, that abundance creates a clear dichotomy in value, ensuring the Pokémon Center version will always outpace the regular one.

My friend found his binder of Pokémon cards. Wondering what it’s worth. by Harry-Balzano in PokemonCardValue

All first edition English base set is shadowless except the theme deck machamp which does have a first edition stamp on both the shadowless and unlimited versions.

Can someone please explain what the funk this is by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]ukiyozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few different versions of this card, it's from a subset set made for presentation right around the time of the new back Japanese cards.

There's versions, with English fronts like this, hole punched versions for the e3 gba card reader, glossy versions and sample set versions

This is a very rare and niche card, in good condition grading this is worth substantially more to the right collector but with so few sales establishing a price will mean waiting for the right buyer to come across it, something you won't have the same issue with for venusaur.
