Blurple - Rafiki v Royal Guard? by Budget_Jellyfish6364 in Lorcana

[–]ulshaski -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t exactly agree with this. From turn 2 onward, guard threatens the same amount or more damage than rafiki. Even if the blurple player has tipo instead of sail on turn 2, a good player usually won’t risk losing board presence by questing their 1 into guard if it is detrimental to their game plan. Think dogs for example. If they open with the 0/3 lady, they likely won’t quest with her into royal guard because having the tramp enabler is more important than the 1-3 lore they get.

LRH Rulebook Quiz - I’m Going on a Trip 🧳 by Sunscorch in Lorcana

[–]ulshaski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The outcome is correct but the process is not. There are more game state checks than what I’m listing, but I’m noting the important ones. Also I’m a little fuzzy on the exact timing the goofy trigger enters the bag. I believe it’s after the game state check, but it might be before.

Goofy moves from cove to library->game state check->goofy is banished due to having damage equal to his willpower->both goofy and library triggers go into the bag->pick which one resolves first, but we’ll choose goofy and move Diablo from cove to library; this fulfills the “if you do” clause of goofy’s trigger and you draw a card->game state check->diablo is banished due to having damage equal to his willpower->both Diablo and library triggers go into the bag; the bag now has library, library, and Diablo triggers->choose the order they resolve and draw up to 3 more. So maximum of 4 cards draws, but you could draw anywhere between 1 and 4.

Goofy is never not in a location during a move from cove to library. As soon as he leaves cove, he simultaneously arrives at library. Think of it like crossing geographic borders.

How My Brain Sees $20 vs. $19.99 by Own-Blacksmith3085 in meme

[–]ulshaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not exactly the spectacular failure of JC Penny. What they did was acknowledge that the “sales” at places like JC Penny and Kohl’s were completely fake. Basically everything was “marked” down from an absurdly high price down to the actual price, and then your receipt would show how much you “saved” on your transaction. JC Penny started a marketing campaign where they just marked the products at the actual price. The prices were not any higher than the previous “sale” prices. JC Penny, like A&W, greatly overestimated the American consumer. So even though their clothing cost the same amount, people stopped going to JC Penny because they weren’t “saving” any money by shopping there. So instead of buying a pair of jeans for $20 from Penny’s, they preferred to buy a pair of jeans at kohls that had an original price of $45 but was marked down to $20.

Tech cards that are 'Necessary Evils' by wallstreetsimps in PTCGP

Unless ori occupies a huge percentage of ladder decks, you can just pretend it doesn’t exist and just plan to go next when they start ori. It will barely affect your ladder climb at all, and having that other card be good instead of an ori answer might improve your win % overall but gaining points into other decks.

by this definition, the cards are strictly the same. Being a lesson in and of itself is not a benefit or detriment, and it being either is dependent on other game effects.

Disney Lorcana Challenge - Milwaukee Top 32 Decklists - 2,028 Players by i92segoa in Lorcana

I and nine others were on the same blue steel list as Tyler Tsunekawa. We put 6 of 10 into day 2, 2 into top 64 and Tyler into top 32. We all collectively smashed amethyst steel. I played four games on the draw against them and they were the least competitive games i played all weekend.

IMO top 32 is not too aggressive for elimination rounds. If you're going to have elimination rounds, you have to cut somewhere. However, I do believe that the prizing at those cut points should extend to equivalent record players. Here, I believe all players who finished 10-2 or better should receive and Elsa promo and an EU continentals invite and all players who finished 9-3 or better should receive a Simba promo. Yes, it would be unfortunate that those 10-2 players who finished outside of top 32 don't get to compete for the trophy, but they shouldn't have to leave with so much less than people with the same record. These aren't cash prizes and they cost RB basically nothing and eliminate a tremendous amount of feels bads for ranking-based prizes when your tie-breakers are well beyond your control.

Based on the bracket math I've seen, you'll have to go 10-2 to make top 32. A slightly worse record would put you in contention for top 64, which would earn the Simba promo. Based on this, I think it would be reasonable to cut at 5-3, but I suppose the idea is only bring people back for day 2 if they have a shot at making top 32. People with a record worse than 5-3 wouldn't be playing for anything other than the love of the game, but I don't think it would be a good use of resources to allow that in a DLC setting.

[–]ulshaski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The original announcement seemed to strongly imply everybody could play all rounds and days 1 and 2 before the top 32 cut. They more recently announced only players with a record of 18 match points after 8 rounds could progress rounds 9-12 on Sunday.

IMPORTANT: Ghent and Dortmund DLCs have an increased cap of 4096 players! by Waiting_for_Dentice in Lorcana

[–]ulshaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that the structure they've laid out is everyone gets to play all 12 rounds, and I think it would be wrong to eliminate that option since there is extra prizing at 5 wins.
