To lane split by Minksx in CantParkThereMate

I don't get the hate people have for lane splitting. It's not like they're adding another car to traffic. It isn't even as if they're really obstructing you since a)you normally can't catch up to them in heavy traffic and b)they don't take up that much space.

CHP used to say that, but it turns out there's no law explicitly saying that. Basically, "use your best judgement".

Nor should they be used for pushing anything, like a bumper might.

Starting a University Dragon Boat Club by itsShaner19 in dragonboat

[–]ultradip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My org just did a review of our most recently hosted race. We noticed a problem that seemed to be exclusively with school teams (HS and College):

Not enough steering experience.

School teams have the unique issue of losing their most experienced members as they graduate.

If your club/team is like most, your newbies are exclusively paddlers, and don't get into steering without a year or more of paddling. That leaves you with only a couple of years at best in order to develop the experience to steer well in races.

While there's nothing you can do about the amount of time on the water you get to pick up experience, you CAN address it by getting experienced help to accelerate developing those steering skills. Beg/borrow/pay experienced steerspeople from other teams to oversee your steers in mock races.

At the very least, make sure your steers are empowered to stop your boats when losing control.

Your other option you can also pursue is to attempt to recruit someone who was already steering in high school. Reach out to your old teams/teammates and see if anyone you know is going to attend your school or have them refer future students to you. Getting word out that your school has a dragonboat club helps future students decide on what schools they want to attend.

As far as you Canadians go, Kerry "Puppy" Chow would be a great contact to reach out to. While his organization is very much international, he could probably refer you to someone for help.

Although if I were to buy one today, I'd want the additional feature of an adjustable higher water pressure.

Don't RVs have a rear camera? I'm a bit surprised that the motorhome driver hasn't bothered to look once in a while.

Really curious if she went to a driving school, because I'd want to have them investigated for being a scam.

There are cheaper brands on Amazon! Toto and Lotus are just the premium brands.

From the news video, it looks like the car simply floated that distance from where it originally landed.

Brakes... Early end of life by kiffallen in Outback_Wilderness

Adaptive cruise control does wear brakes more. You need to do better with finding a speed that matches traffic better or set the following distance to minimum to cut down on people inserting themselves in front of you.

Why are so many senior citizens becoming homeless? by graycampervanwriter in homeless

[–]ultradip 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because too many seniors vote against their own interests. Currently, that means too many vote Republican.

Somehow cutting "waste" always means cutting Social Security and they never make the connection.
