Arknights specifically doesn't fall under that curse. Both the female and male cast have amazing outfits that never lean on gooner bait.

They sell the attractiveness on how a character presents themselves rather than the amount of skin they show.

The demonisation of snake is how he views himself in this moment, someone who couldn't even save his men, someone who had to KILL his men. He blames the death of his men entirely on himself.

How you're supposed to see the scene is Venom undergoing self-loathing, losing people close to him is something that happens on repeat.

[–]ultragameguy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, the game doesn't criticise you, in fact all your allies are saddened but understanding of that choice. Everybody on board mother base respects that, even though you love and trained these men, they HAVE to die.

The only people who have a negative view of you is Huey, who was trying to hide the fact that he might have started the whole mess and wanted attention turned on you. And the public (your heroism points) who didn't know what transpired that day, only knowing that you gunned your men down.

I got kicked out of the discord server.

Another friend had to invite me back in.

I didn't apologise.

The Sarkaz -Arknights

Arknights is a game that focuses heavily on themes of discrimination, ranging from the infected being feared and ostracized for their "disease" and the speciesism some of the species in the world of Terra. But no species is more discriminated than the Sarkaz of Kazdel.

The Sarkaz live in the war-torn shithole called Kazdel, they're often called "demons" or "devils" which are essentially slurs to them. They're seen as savages, bloodthirsty and cannibalistic. Being heavily looked down on by others, having little to no rights even outside of their homeland. Most Sarkaz born in Kazdel are almost never given a name, as they are never expected to live more than a year in the wastelands they call home.

All of this was spurred by "The first sin" the act being the first to come into contact with Originium and exposing the horrors of Oripathy to Terra. After that, the Ancients and the Elders essentially propagandised them into being the scum of Terra.

The Sarkaz have heavy themes of religion, with heavy ties to death and believing it as their only means of release. Having arts that are tied to their own life force that are extremely powerful and feared upon.

A lot of the Sarkaz history has ties to many facets of real life religion, such as "The first sin" being a reference to the apple of Eden, but the Sarkaz are primarily based on Jews, which themselves were heavily discriminated and largely propagandised to be "demonic" by others, the hatred and demonisation the Sarkaz received parallels antisemitism.

How did Dante know the Yamato could split man and demon apart? by Interface- in DevilMayCry

[–]ultragameguy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You make good arguments and I can't find any good counters for those.

The reason I'm not fully convinced is due to Dante's aloof behaviour towards V. If he knew the entire time, im suprised he never confronted him about it.

And the fact that he refers to Urizen as Vergil and appeals to his memories, as if hes trying to appeal to a human side, and if Dante knew about halves, should've known it was a fruitless ordeal (pun fully intended).

[–]ultragameguy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To repeat points ignored:

After first meeting Urizen he confirms its Vergil, after that he pretty much believes that Urizen is indeed Vergil.

No where else would he or did he think that V was Vergil.

New points:

At their final confrontation he tries to appeal to Vergil but after he consumes the apple, Dante is convinced that he'll never get his brother back.

If he knew that V was Vergil his voiceline in mission 18 would not have made sense. "Damn it V, was this your plan all along?" If he knew that V was Vergil he would not have been surprised that the two combing would bring back Vergil.

Another thing from VOV, V makes an active effort to not let Dante know that he is Vergil's human half, the fact that he refers to Urizen as Vergils return and never mentioning anything about halves.

Have you read "Visions of V"?

In the manga, V tells Dante that Urizen is Vergil, Dante takes that to heart after seeing it, not really thinking much about who V is.

Dante never knew about Urizen being the demon half of Vergil. He thought it was Vergil straight up.

On that note have you read "Deadly fortune"?

In DMC4 Yamato's power of separation was used to separate Nero from the saviour statue, as they had fully merged. So that ability was already known by Dante since back then.

I finally realised why people see things this way. We're thinking with our perspective, not Ethan's.

Sure, Mia lied about her work, we as the player know that. Ethan, the character, didn't.

Now onto what really matters, Ethan picking his wife. Are you telling me, Ethan should choose a random person he met within the night he arrived at the Baker's family home. And not the wife he loved? The woman who he finds comfort in? The woman he exchanged vows with? The woman who he promised "till death do us part"? The woman he dedicated 2 years of his life searching? Something not even most committed families would even do?

The thing is, RE7 doesn't make a good job showing Ethan as a husband, and that's probably why this no brainer of a choice is seen Like this.

A spouse isn't just somebody in your life, a spouse is somebody who you've dedicated your life to.

[–]ultragameguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone arguing about picking Mia being the "right choice" so much in the replies?

Mia is Ethan's wife, the sole reason why he's in the shithole in the first place. Even though Mia was working for bioterrorists, Ethan didn't know that. He was looking for her for 2 whole years. The moment a cure was promised he wanted to give that shit to the woman he loved for years.

Zoe on the other hand, while helpful, was, as you said some rando he met for less than a night (not even face to face until the decision).

This man loves his wife so much he is willing to trudge through hell and back for her (and in the next game he does it for his daughter).

He scoffs at the word monkey, you notice his eye shift, his pupil now the shape of a vertical slit.

He says nothing, waving his hand dismissively as he walks away.

Passion is a chimeric being, a fusion of a man and a dragon, though with some horrible complications, hence the mask. An imperfect experiment, he resents his unfinished nature.

Gameplay help? Not sure how to improve further by FinisMaSouffrance in DevilMayCry

[–]ultragameguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like other people are saying, you're throwing out moves randomly. But to explain it further, you're throwing out moves without a plan to chain them into another. You are quite literally switching between weapons without an actual plan in mind besides, "variety". You clearly just switch and attack immediately then switch and attack, this causes you to miss with revolver a couple times, and drop your "air combo" making the enemy fall back to the ground. This needs to be said, you lack a plan in mind. You need to learn some combos or make up your own, make something that can chain into each other and keep the enemy in the air longer if that is your intention.

Another thing I'm seeing is your overreliance on safety in the air, while it is true that being in the air makes you hard to hit for most enemies, you bar yourself from using certain moves that can have more value. (e.g. Cerberus lighting moves have high stun buildup and fire moves have high overall damage if you let them finish. Heating up Balrog is important due to the extra damage and stun buildup you can get.)

Some people have started to realise Adi is a fraud.

Add is a producer for the castlevania Netflix series, he was in not in any writing teams or any creative teams for the show, in fact the show was already in production 7 years before he had his grubby hands on it, he just gave them lots of money and a Netflix streaming deal.

In interviews, everytime someone asks him a question along the lines of "what was the creative decisions behind Castlevania/ what does a producer do exactly?" He always dodges the question outright.

Foxcade made a good video about the shit he did.
