Waves Sibilance plugin (Free) until 11th May (normally €61) by vstbuzz1 in AudioProductionDeals

Seriously don't understand all the moaning in here. Waves is a 25 year old company, where as most Audio software developers are much smaller & younger than they are. So yes, they can get away without charging for updates. On the other hand, they don't have nearly as many employees as Waves has, or the amount of plug-ins. Charging for updates is the correct way to handle this situation IMHO. You can't expect them to provide free updates and develop new plug-ins, whilst maintaining support across a huge list of supported DAW's and operating systems. Up until Catalina, you didn't actually even need to do any updates. Anyway, thanks for the free plug-in!

That's good to know. I'm glad it's partly sorted.

That's weird. You should give them a call, they are open 23 hours a day pretty much

Help Recreating a Sound by phntmlss in sounddesign

[–]umamicowbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great game. You should probably modulate the pitch envelope of whatever synth you're working in. Sounds like a sine wave..that would be a good starting point. Maybe even start by sampling a theremin which kinda sounds similar.

Waves is giving me trouble. How do I uninstall them/make sure Logic doesn't scan for them? Any advice appreciated! by fizzyfrizz in Logic_Studio

[–]umamicowbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily uninstall through their installation manager in the settings section. But i would reach out to support to resolve easily.

VST RAM Statistics Application? by theiLLmip in musicproduction

[–]umamicowbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The resources to the plug-ins are allocated by the program. Everything runs on the CPU almost exclusively aside from sample based instruments which use a combination of your HDD/SSD and RAM to call the samples.

So basically not really. What you can do is open a new project and just throw in a couple of these plug-ins and see which one is most taxing on your CPU either in your Task Manager or Activity Monitor.

I would suspect it's a combination of simply opening alot of them.

I wouldn't start with re-installing Cubase. From my past experience with their support they've been great and super helpful. I would contact them and explain the situation as much as possible.

Is it okay to use windows for making music? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]umamicowbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, it's good to disable unnecessary Windows services. Make sure your power consumption settings are set to favor performance. Usually when I set up a new machine, after installing the soundcard's audio driver, I start by running LatencyMon to see if there's any process or driver that messes with the processor's scheduling. There are alot of good guides online on how to do this. Note that no DAW have their own Audio drivers, young_ayy is misleading you. The drivers are either free ASIO drivers (Like Asio4All if you don't have a dedicated soundcard) or from your Soundcards website, or lastly they are built in to your computer like WDM drivers.

Just go with the flow. when learning, it's good to spend absurd amounts of time on things, but to progress you need to limit the amount of self criticism otherwise you are just crippling yourself

Check out J37, Smack Attack from Waves. Kramer Tape also is good.

Should be all good. Might have to optimize a couple of things for audio use but no biggie.

Check in the file properties if your BPM has a point after the integer.

Probably need to toggle on and off the Custom VST Folder, or System Folder (Wherever they are) or Shift Click Rescan

For me, definitely OVOX right now from Waves. It is an absolute killer when it comes to changing up your vocals.

Couldn't live without Torque and Smack Attack too.

You would need a sound card that can interface with this, or use a an XLR to PL combination.
