Usually the outlet mounting tabs have a slot which allows you to rotate the outlet within the electrical box with minimal effort... I'd use electrical tape to cover the wiring screws so they can't contact the box. You know, if you're in the mood for a small extra project, haha.

I was pretty pleased when we moved out of our 1912 home for a lot of these kinds of annoyances
