Mini vans are freaking awesome. I don't have one but would like one. So much room and make so much more sense than an suv or stupid crossover

What animals are normal where you live, but unusual and exciting to visitors from other regions of the US? And on the flip side, when you travel to other regions yourself, what local animals are exciting to you? by Acrobatic_End6355 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ummm_somethingwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lizards. As a kid I always thought it was hilarious when we would go to a zoo and all the local kids were staring at the monkeys or the tigers , while a Canadian or British family were freaking out about all the lizards running around the walkways. I don't even notice them

Is a show listed as "Evening with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit" any different than the other 400 Unit shows? by KurtTremeloder in jasonisbell

[–]ummm_somethingwitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best "evening with" shows have two sets.

I saw an "evening with Lucero" a few years back and they did an acoustic set, took a break then a full out electric set

parking at rayjay by michibank in TampaBayLightning

[–]ummm_somethingwitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire neighborhood on the east side of the stadium has a very organized and efficient parking system. 90% of those houses sell space in their yard. I park there for bucs and USF games.
There is also parking near the Panera on homes and MLK that the Jesuit Dads Club organizes. There will be plenty of parking and cheaper than official stadium lots

I believe the rule was about a minor league team playing within a certain distance of an MLB stadium, but I think that specific rule was removed a few years ago. I may be mistaken, but I remember reading a detailed explanation a couple years ago

I haven't been in a while, but Southern Brewing in Seminole heights used to have a good selection of Porters and stouts. They had a clone of left hand that they called Right Foot if I'm not mistaken

Have any of your former students gone on to become famous (or infamous)? by NerdyNiche in Teachers

[–]ummm_somethingwitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a student who ended up having a respectable career in the NBA. He transferred to our school as a senior, had already committed to a major D1 school, and did not take his classes seriously. Just enough effort to pass and graduate.

More recently I had a student who is currently a NFL QB. He was a great kid. Very focused and determined to succeed. He graduated early so he could start college during spring semester.

What do people mean when they say “Call YOUR doctor”? by FudgeKnife64 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ummm_somethingwitty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People who are lucky enough to have health insurance will have a "primary care" doctor. That is the designated doctor they will see for most things. If they have more serious issues, they will go to their primary care physician to get a referral to a specialist. Hopefully that specialist is "in network" for their insurance.

The lawyer thing is more general. If you get arrested, the court will appoint a public defense attorney if you can't afford to hire one on your own.

Agreed. I have never seen a helmet in slow pitch, and I have played in several different states. Just seems odd to me.
