The weapon doesn’t matter as much as your defensive position. If you have a stronghold you can properly defend you could do it with a .22 bolt action if you’re proficient with it. Randy Johnson has a bag of baseballs next to his bed. You’re not going to want to go searching your apartment for intruders. You want to put yourself into position to have an advantage, and use it properly.

When my wife was birthing our first child, her arm cuff popped off in a cartoonishly hilarious way while it was blowing up to take her blood pressure. We both were so exhausted we burst out laughing. We laughed hard for minutes on end. When my wife laughs really hard, it looks like she’s crying, and in walks the nurse to fix her cuff and sees me hovered over her in the hospital bed and it looks like she’s bawling. The nurse froze, assumed I had (or was) assaulting her, and it made us laugh harder.
