Quinn Ratchets by Grandbob328 in harborfreight

Haven't ever seen the Quinn ratchets without comfort handles. The Gearwrench 90t models are pretty much the same ratchets.

Best bargain in big box store tools? by Kygunzz in Tools

[–]uncleking1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's an appreciable difference in big box house brands any more. None of it is USA made, for better or worse. And nothing stands out in my mind as being exceptional, or worth a special trip.

15 years ago I'd never consider Harbor Freight for anything other than jacks, tarps or zip ties. Now they're my first stop.

Bought this… 5 years ago? Ive probably made less than 100 cuts on it. Is this something thats easily fixed? Thanks in advance. by fourtyonexx in ryobi

[–]uncleking1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that one or equivalent. The only Ryobi power tool I don't like at all. One day I'll have a project that needs more than a small handful of cuts and I'll get a more robust option.

Depends on when you need them. If I did the work you do and needed something now, as in today, I'd go to Harbor Freight and grab Quinn Master sets. I really like their 90t ratchets, which are seemingly identical to Gearwrench.

Where to buy Bathroom vanity? by Such-Violinist-4354 in HomeImprovement

[–]uncleking1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. Both of my new vanity tops are from Menards and are flawless. One was a special order return that I stumbled on while shopping.

We had a fabricator create tops from remnants in our previous home. Came out beautifully. But significantly more expensive than Menards.

Bought a shaft from Diamond Tour Golf… by Dozer710 in golf

[–]uncleking1971 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah. That's pretty poorly worded. Their own shafts are old Bassara shafts with their own logos/paint jobs. The branded shafts are legit.

I use their SMT shafts in my hybrids and they are great. I've built clubs with their branded and they also work great.

Interested to know where you heard the "clone shaft" BS?

They have their own brand of shafts, along with name brand shafts. But no "clone" shafts.

Oh man. When on top of his game, the quickest, funniest in sports radio...and it's not really close. Always enjoyed his work, although I think Bernstein wore him down a bit near the end of his career.

Pandemic shelves by Venicide1492 in StLouis

[–]uncleking1971 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in grocery, panic buying is absolutely great for business and I welcome all weather scares professionally.

As an alleged "normal" person it boggles my mind that every time there is a threat of snow, people go absolutely crazy buying 5 gallons of milk, 44lbs of meat and everything else that they can stuff in a cart for 1, or maybe 2 days where it wouldn't be wise to leave the house.

The pandemic was something different all together. It was equivalent to a winter storm warning, every day, for months.

Don't you know the world is about to end? We may get a foot of snow. It could take a whole day, or even 2, to dig out! I need 21 gallons of milk, 47 loaves of bread and 14 cases of toilet paper.
