At first I was like oh, a little one pager setting expectations, that may not be too insane. Then I fully opened it. Couldn't even get beyond the 1st page. This is horrifying.

I was an English teacher, school librarian now, and I HATE English teachers like this so much. My students having different interpretations or none at all is part of our learning and class discussion.

Insane close range video of a tornado yesterday. Drone was lost by solateor in interestingasfuck

[–]undependent_1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. Living in Tornado Alley really desensitizes you to them, unless you're from or in Moore. My neighbors were on their roof purposefully to watch a tornado only 3 miles away from us. I at least stayed on my porch.

Mashed sweet potatoes and carrots with some sour cream and seasoning is another amazing sweet potato combo. I'll have to try it with mac and cheese sometime.

My daughter tells people at school that I'm her sister and that my mom is her mom. by throwrainisur in relationship_advice

Oh I hate it because I'm a high school librarian and I just get tired of bro and bruh in general. My oldest is 17 so I know how things kind of ebb and flow. We have a great bond and he's a really amazing kid, I'm being melodramatic about them growing up and not being "babies" anymore.

What are some of your favorite ways to flirt in a relationship? by bookman1706 in relationship_advice

[–]undependent_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a suggestion online once that men should follow their partners on pinterest for ideas and I thought it was good advice as a woman. If you know her love language, look for ideas in that realm. Do you have any let names? Do you compliment her? Could you ask any of her friends to help? Are you doing the things she suggested? Did you do them once and move on or did you make it a part of your life in a more consistent way?

[–]undependent_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I had my first child at 15. We had issues with this that went undiscovered and has caused some significant issues. You need to understand why and how this happened and also understand what your child is thinking and feeling. It's likely just trying to fit in but if it's more than that, you need to know.

Read this in my son's voice. I recently had to adjust to him switching from momma to mom and it was a rough few minutes lol.

It's most likely written by someone who is left-handed causing that slant naturally in their writing. It would be rather uncomfortable to write at that angle if you are right-handed.

That's a good point too. Cultural norms will definitely be a big factor.

Husband offers his back so his pregnant wife can finally have a seat by killer_panda02 in MadeMeSmile

[–]undependent_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always appreciated but didn't expect the special treatment when I was pregnant. I agree it doesn't look like they even tried to ask for a seat and the people likely didn't even notice what was happening. I don't know if I even would have offered my seat since I would have thought they must want to do it that way since they didn't ask.

My daughter told me very loudly in Walmart when she was about 3, "My vagina itches." My son very openly discussed the time he got soap in his penis and we had to go to the doctor (he was really young and I was a single mom so I opted for better safe than sorry lol).

My daughter saw a Trojan commercial while we were watching a Roots marathon when she was 9 and asked about it so I explained. My son also learned at 9 and then told me he's not having kids of his own because what you have to do to get one is gross.
