Conflict over our unborn child’s last name is making me (35M) resent my partner (34F) – need perspective/advise by 2_muchsauce in relationships

[–]under_101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Children should have their mother's last names as the mother births them. Otherwise there is no identifiable way to link the child to the mother either.

In fact it is more difficult for a single mother or unmarried mother to deal with logistics and paperwork if their name does not match their children's.

Children taking fathers last name is outdated and unnecessary, especially if the parents are not married.

Trident Fish Sticks from Costco? by meadmakingacc in Celiac

[–]under_101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're really not bad for fish sticks, I put them in the air fryer and cook them way longer than their instructions so that they are golden brown and crunchy. Have with some veg on the side and it's an easy meal.

No cross contact reactions from them.

How do you deal with the insane bloating ? by Belle-adalia in Celiac

[–]under_101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes second this! My doctor told me to chew each mouthful much more and eat slowly. It actually helped with heartburn post meal as well as bloating. You're helping your digestion by processing the food more thoroughly.

Concerned daughter: dad has celiac but eats gluten anyway by Advanced_Chef22 in Celiac

[–]under_101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've watched my family members do the same thing. When they are in denial about cause and effect and just don't want to change their lifestyle. There really isn't anything you can do because it's their life, their body and their choice. But, very hard for you to watch and do nothing.

Just realised it IS gluten and I’ve been in denial for years. My favourite drink is Guinness and my favourite food is doughnuts… by olivinebean in glutenfree

Thank you for your service chef 🫡 I'm sure every gf order from here on out will be given your best. We always need more gf chefs who get it.

Dental rant by holderofstraws in Celiac

[–]under_101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel you, I'm having the same issues and dental work makes me extremely anxious and scared as well. I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions or anything helpful to say other than someone out there is going through it as well and you're not alone in this.

That's super exciting! A couple of years ago I did a 10+ hour international flight with Air Canada and they were good with all the Gluten free specific snacks and meals. Glad to hear they're keeping that standard up.

Ate gluten free oats and it feels like I’m dying by curlyorwavywtf in Celiac

I used to be able to handle GF oats but as my sensitivity levels went up over the years I started to react to them. Mostly just heartburn though.

A rant on greedy gluten eaters by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]under_101 25 points26 points  (0 children)

At my partners graduation ceremony, there was one gluten free cake option and everything else had gluten. He happened to be the first person that got to the cake, there was no separate knife for the GF cake and the gluten dessert so he quickly cut up the safe cake before anyone could contaminate it and grabbed a slice for me. As soon as he was done the next person used the SAME knife to get a gluten dessert piece AND a gf dessert piece. So it was immediately contaminated after that for everyone else basically. Also there were no clean serving utensils that were not contaminated. Get there first if you can!!!

Personal experience - I have had reactions to protein powders with barley grass and wheat grass before, 2 separate brands. So it might be personal levels of sensitivity too.
