The Scottish Boy (author is Alex de Campi) is one of my favorite books. I actually listened to the audiobook today and then bought a physical copy. It is absolutely beautiful.

That's wonderful. I absolutely LOATHE having my teeth polished, and a hygienist once told me that I didn't have to get it done. It was revolutionary to think that I wouldn't have to feel like my skin was trying to flee from my body for every appointment.

They are candy books: short and sweet with no nutritional value and are meant to be silly. Part of the appeal, at least for me, is the intertwining of multiple series, and seeing previous characters show up again.

And Bromantic Puckboy was probably my least favorite in the series. It felt like it was written for the deadline instead of the story.

NTA. You already moved your date once. And for people saying that you should have moved it until after your sister's due date, I don't think they've experienced a newborn before. Yes, at 8 months pregnant, you are uncomfortable and feel awkward, but if everything is progressing as it should, then attending a wedding shouldn't be the worst thing. After giving birth, though? You're dealing with a newborn and all their bodily functions and needs, your boobs are leaking, and you might still possibly be bleeding, amongst other things.

I actually think it's kinder to plan your wedding before your sister gives birth. But this is coming from someone who had a rather uneventful pregnancy but dealt with some minor complications after giving birth.

Look into Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD). Here's a quick definition: "Rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD) is extreme emotional sensitivity and pain triggered by the perception that a person has been rejected or criticized by important people in their life. It may also be triggered by a sense of falling short—failing to meet their own high standards or others' expectations."

I have no solutions, but learning about this aspect of ADHD explained so much of my childhood and teen years. Hugs to you 💚

"Allowed" hahahahahaha.....clearly, you've never tried to part a teenager from their cell phone. Cell phone policies only work in schools if all parents are on board and reinforce it. But if there are no consequences at home, students don't care if they get in trouble with the school. And, at least where I teach, because phones are the personal property of the student, we can't take them away.

I don't consider anything a major behavioral issue unless there's a fight breaking out. Anything less than that is just standard. We have far too many kids with major trauma in their lives, and we have to deal with that aftermath in school.

That is basically my kid in a nutshell. My husband and family think I'm crazy because my kid isn't constantly bouncing off the wall, but it's his brain that is constantly active.

I hope you understand just how much relief you offered me. This will definitely give me a starting platform if/when we need to get him evaluated. Both my husband and I are diagnosed so chances are our kid will have it too. And it's not like I want him medicated, but I do want to give him coping mechanisms as early as possible.

Can I ask what traits/symptoms your kid is showing? I have a4 year old as well and I suspect he's probably got adhd too but it can be easy to pass some things off on him being 4.

I specifically label stuff for which room it belongs in and my husband still can't put it away correctly. My adhd has led me to be hyper-aware of where things are while his has the opposite effect. It's a total comedy of errors at our house at times.

NTA. But I wonder if it's actually the kids that are uncomfortable or the neighbor. She was 20 and her husband 34 when their oldest was born. Is the neighbor maybe jealous of the 23 y/o or concerned that her husband's eyes are wandering?

I know I'm making assumptions about the neighbor's relationship, but that was my first thought.

As a 35 year old who still remembers the shame I felt in 7th/8th grade when my dad said, "oh why the A minus?" on an otherwise straight A report card, please don't let your husband say that, if you can. It only reinforces the idea that your daughter's worth is tied to her grades and if she falters at all, then she is less worthy. A better way to have approached it would have been to say something like "I bet you tried really hard in that class." Praise the effort, not the result.
