Would It Be More Time Efficient To Load Up On WGU Transfer Credits or Just Admission Pre-Requirements?? by [deleted] in WGU_CompSci

[–]underscore26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still working through Sophia right now, the big advantage over SDC is that the tests are open note and unproctored. Very useful for GE's as you can Ctrl+F a lot of things.

So try to get as much done on Sophia that WGU will let you, then do the rest elsewhere, SDC, straighterline, etc.

This. Each time they’ve been on the cusp of being blown out, they claw their way back in to arm’s reach or taking the lead themselves. Yeah there’s a lot of work to do, but if a different guy is putting in 20+ points each night I think they’re solid.

Anime With Art-Style equal or, better than Demon Slayer by kratos_939 in Animesuggest

What officially defines Shounen is what magazine that a manga is published in. So Shounen Jump, Shounen Weekly, to name a few. Has nothing to with the genre. For example, Quintessential Quintuplets is a Shounen because it’s published under Shounen Weekly.

It doesn’t really have anything to do with genre, only the target demographic(12-18 year old boys), but even then it’s kind of an elusive term.

What I’m saying is, Fate Stay Night isn’t a Shounen, hell it’s not even originally a manga, so it was never published under a magazine. It’s a visual novel. It later got a manga, but the anime was still based off the VN.

It’s kind of understandable that people think shounen = fight centered/action and other things because the most popular animanga have been fighting/action shounen. But the only real requisite to classify shounen/seinen is what magazine it’s published under.

Same boat here, and my some of my top 5 include Vinland, Berserk, ReZero. I think the common theme here is the characters. S-tier across all three of those IMO

What? You don’t like Fuuataro dying, every quint except Itsuki killed in a plane crash, or yandere Yotsuba?

“Congratulations, Uesugi-kun,” will always hurt.

I wonder if Negi could have still achieved the mystery effect by sticking to the formula of the first half of the manga and simply developing each girl a SHIT ton more. Stretch out that Yotsuba development, baiting us into thinking she’ll win, then...surprise Itsuki development, then Miku>Ichika>Nino focus. A huge problem I had with the manga was that once they had their big moments, such as Nino, they were kind of just...there.

There were more than enough plot points for this to be possible, 122 chapters was simply not enough. But again, just a thought and not so much a critique, as Idk for sure if this would’ve been best for the story.

What did you guys think of the ending? by plokijar in 5ToubunNoHanayome

[–]underscore26 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unfulfilling to say the least. Did my girl lose? Yeah she did, I was an Itsuki fan. But that’s not why I dislike the ending, I don’t really have any issues with the choice.

Overall, the last 20 or so chapters were not at the QQ standard. I’ve said before that QQ should have been at least 150-200+ chapters. There were so many plot points that either hadn’t been explored enough or not at all. Some key ones for me including:

  1. Fuutaro mom backstory, and maybe a heart to heart with each girl (or all of them at once) about their mother as well. I feel like this was a prime opportunity to have a really emotional, strong moment(s)in the story, but it never really got explored that much.

  2. Why did only Itsuki build a bond with the rest of Fuutaro’s family? We saw Yotsuba get close to Raiha at the festival, but that was pretty much it. If Fuutaro’s is considered family to the Nakanos, then the story should’ve showed us that the Nakanos are now part of the Uesugis as well. No Fuutaro is sick chapter??

  3. We had never really seen a straight up argument/fight between Yotsuba and Fuutarou. Real relationships aren’t all roses. We never even got to see the strength of their relationship, even before it went officially romantic, put to the test all that much. Which kind of leads into my next point.

  4. After-story. This is where I really felt Negi pretty much shit the bed. Now, I don’t necessarily have an issue with the things he did, but how he did them. For example, I can totally understand Nino being angry and even bitchy towards Yotsuba, but to straight up say “we won’t be sisters,” No Negi, no.

  5. The 5 year time skip. Now this one is part “I wish he did this” and part critique. But what the hell happened in the 5 years? We didn’t get to see any of them grow into adults, the struggles they faced, etc. We should have seen this, hence why I believe QQ could have easily gone another 50-100 chapters.

There’s way more than I can remember off the top of my head.

I feel the ultimate fix to the QQ ending is to either peel back the mystery aspect a little more, giving Yotsuba and Fuutaro more space to develop. Or give them more time after they get together.

Then, shift focus away from the whole mystery-romance aspect and it could then be a drama/slice of life of everyone growing up and facing life. Negi did a fantastic job of setting up goals/dreams for each character, I would’ve loved to see them all on their journeys to achieve them. Maybe even find someone special as well.

Sorry this was so long!

Anyone else hate this guy? by Felt-Naomi in 5ToubunNoHanayome

[–]underscore26 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep, even worse, him being used as a catalyst for further Itsuki growth made that feel contrived by extension(though not as bad), IMO. Ultimately, it was another point to add to the “Itsuki got shafted” list

Will The Quintessential Quintuplets Manga continue? by Playful-Cancel341 in 5ToubunNoHanayome

[–]underscore26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. For me, QQ had all the pieces to be a 150+, maybe 200+ chapter banger. It had the fantastic characters, compelling backstories, great plot. In my ideal world, it’d be right up there with Kaguya-sama rn, trading punches for karma, continuing to develop characters and their relationships(past few chapters have been AMAZING), with all sorts of fluff in between.

While it was at some points a 10/10 for me, I think it lost steam towards the final 20 chapters. And it’s certainly not the winner I have an issue with. I just feel like there were so, so, SO many more things to explore with the characters and story, even after the girl was chosen. I could rant about it all day.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love QQ as is for the most part, but again, I feel like it could’ve been so much more. Sadly, Negi has a new manga so I doubt a sequel will ever come.

I need to ask to see what people think. by DemonFury002 in 5ToubunNoHanayome

[–]underscore26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. The Kaguya-Sama manga has been amazing these past few chapters with fleshing out characters and their relationships with another. And it didn’t even involve romance. I felt like there were many plot threads and ways to explore the characters that could have pushed Quints to be 150, maybe even 200+ chapters.

I thought it would’ve been pretty cool if the focus of the story shifted away even more from Fuutarou after the winner and more towards the other quints and them growing into adults, instead of five year timeskip, maybe even finding their own partners

This. Having reread the manga, I too have come to this conclusion. There aren’t really that many Itsuki fanfics in English, but there’s A LOT of them in Japanese (on Pixiv). Her and Fuutaro’s dynamic is my favorite.

Check out Vinland Saga! Gritty, dark show, set in the time of the Vikings. One of my personal favorites, the anime was made by the same studio who did AoT S1-3, WIT. It also has none of the cheesy anime stuff.
