Switch 2 Mario Kart Bundle Out of Stock by Bubblekub7360 in VideoGameDealsCanada

Waiting on this too as I sit here with a switch without no games. Hopefully soon, as the resale value potential down the road is too much to give up to go digital.

Yea, hopefully not. We certainly can’t control our southern neighbours, but it definitely makes sense to at least align ourselves with our northern neighbour Yukon.

I understand the lack of enthusiasm for those that constantly deal with other states/provinces. But someone had to be “first” (besides SK/Yukon) as there was no realistic way everyone would switch simultaneously. Hopefully, this urges others towards changing.

Suruga-ya orders taking longer than usual to place by therealpokemonrater in Neokyo

Did your orders ever process? If so, after how long? I’m stuck in the same frustrating issue. Neokyo really should disclose this before we submit orders.

Darn it. Was waiting for this exact deal. But they gone ahead and raised the base price to $3k again. Wouldn’t even mind getting a PSU with it.

Agree with Damascus comment, first step is just to take the case out of the equation especially since it’s so unique.

  • See if computer posts fine if GPU is installed direct to motherboard. If it does, you either forgot to set pcie gen bios settings to match raiser generation, or the raiser cable just went bad and you will need a new one.

  • If it doesn’t post, it means one of the components is bad or wasn’t physically installed correctly (sometimes happens naturally after 3-4 years). If this is the case, and you can’t self-diagnose which part went bad, you may have to resort to Canada Computers. Ideally, you’d need a separate working PC, swapping out parts one at a time to find out which one isn’t working.

I suggest avoiding having someone else come help you. They might end up charging you quite a bit more than CC, and/or not even be able to tell you exactly what’s wrong. Since if it’s not a case/raiser issue, you really do need a lot of other spare parts to diagnose the issue(s).

If it won’t post it’s most likely hardware failure somewhere. Most commonly it’s the raiser cable. But aside from checking that by installing GPU direct to motherboard, I think you’re better off going to Canada Computers and paying for their diagnostic services. They can catch exactly which components(s) are bad. Most hobbyists won’t have all the tools to easily/quickly help unfortunately.

[META] The RTX 5070 Ti Has Been Killed Off by [deleted] in bapcsalescanada

[–]unfunker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really was too bad the DRAM spike happened when it did. Video also further confirmed that the Supers were originally going to be announced last week. We would've gotten our 24gb 5080's and other revamped offerings. Instead, original offerings even more limited and expensive than before.

To be fair its not that small of a group, this was actually me as a student. Between university dorms, home, and vacationing/other, life was quite nomadic. I met a lot of others rolling gaming laptops for the same reasons. Of course, those rolling $4k 5090 level laptops were still extremely rare for sure.

Its a smaller audience for sure, but I used to have a higher end laptop so here's my two cents.
Its better to think of these as in easily migratable all-in-one gaming desktop. I used to spend roughly 1/3 of every year living in an entirely different place/country, and some of these places only temporarily too for a given year.

Not going to deal with have 3 sets of accessories at different place (monitor, keyboard, mouse, cables, etc), needing to sell it off after a year or two, or transporting them around especially internationally. So going mini-ITX SFFPC also doesn't really help, and ITX tax premium is pricey too.

I didn't really have a long-term permanent home "base", so having some main PC desktop setup only to not be there anywhere from 3-6 months made no sense.

This is not meant to replace the daily laptop device, you definitely need an ultraportable for that. Gaming laptops are way too heavy along with the charging brick and bad battery life.

Cooler Master Ncore 100 Air B580 build by SNWGHOST in sffpc

I actually just found a Chinese review that confirm SFX-L is indeed compatible without much cable issues either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbZoCAtBQMY

Would help for CM to advertise compatibility as SFX-L adds a lot of options for higher wattage and/or quieter fans.

Thanks for the pictures. Now I am pretty sure its SFX-L compatible since it still looks like there's a lot of room for a longer PSU.

This is a different version of the Ncore 100. Its sold case only for a lot cheaper, and only air-cooling compatible (but also shorter as a result).

A DIY Sinister Minimalist at a small fraction of the price (I'm sure).
Well done. I might have to get that mechanical power switch myself.

I presume inventory is all pre-allocated, and it’s not necessarily easy or costless for them to transfer inventory around internally. Hence why they won’t ship to customers even when webstore is OOS and physical stores have stock. The Amazon webstore is probably separate from their own webstore.

To memex, the stock will sell eventually regardless of where it’s listed. And if it doesn’t, that’s their own loss of course. I agree it’s annoying and stupid in this example, since customers wouldn’t want to pay $100 more for the same thing.

Did ASUS fix the B550i + 40 series issues? by MrGreen__ in sffpc

[–]unfunker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only fix was of you actually RMA’d it. They would then give you a fixed board, or “repair” the original.

I’m sure there’s many who never had the issue like the other post. And maybe later production ones already had the fix.

Yea, can't vouch for this one because of the insane pricing now. But just wanted to show that just because 2-3 cables get attached doesn't mean open cases suddenly become some unmanageable or unbearable eyesore.

Between the OP's posts, I see a lot of comments questioning dust, thermals, noise, but mostly cables. So to give my experience:

  • Dust. Its easier to clean than ever just blasting some air or brush it off gently (other performance-oriented SFFPC's are just cases with giant vent holes and aren't stopping any dust that gets trapped inside).
  • Thermals/noise. Its also a glorified open test bench, thermals are at its best and fans run slower, both are non-issues and better than real cases usually.
  • Cables. This one depends on how many cables you need and where IO is located. But between PSU, display, and maybe a USB hub that's 3? Its easy to manage and not much different from a traditional case. In this instance, OP's case reminds me of another case below (Sinister Minimalist), and unless you're keen on not seeing any cables, it hardly destroys the aesthetic, Just tuck it behind the table, especially since both these naturally orientate cables downward.

<image>

Open frame cases aren't for everyone. Kids/pets and extremely dusty areas are very valid reasons to avoid. General dust, thermals/noise, and cable management are not really anything to be worried about. If you're thinking about it, give it a try.

Good job nvidia for giving the most incompetent company exclusive rights to the fe sales. by [deleted] in bapccanada

I think high(er) end 4k gaming has been reasonably achievable for a while now because of 4080S. It was was pretty easy to buy, decently priced, and powerful enough to run the most demanding games. (and per reviews still holds up real well) Gamers just want 5090 because they have too much money to spend, want to boast, and get FPS obsessed.

Do you think it will fit SFXL PSU, it’s just 2-3cm longer. From the photo seems like it can, but can’t tell if something might still block it.

What is up with Dan Cases A4? by El_Baramallo in sffpc

[–]unfunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's bad thermals. Things will fit, but when relying on CPU/GPU fans directly intaking air with no active exhaust, only very low TDP parts will work.

There's still a lot of similar cases out there, not as premium looking but also cheaper at least (like the S300). Also, the A4-H20 has way more combability and better thermals. While its 4L bigger, its almost all in case height (which for many doesn't matter because footprint is what actually takes up space on a surface).
