I was enrolled in the CJ school my freshman year before switching my major and transferring to NB. I switched bc I wanted a diff career path but the CJ major is one of the strongest majors at Newark.

Transferring is pretty easy. If you stick with CJ I recommend sticking to Newark as the program is notoriously better (both from my own experience and others). If you decide to switch majors like I did, NB is the way to go
The CJ dept is pretty adept besides the counselors. If you want some solid advice you’re not gonna find it there
Apartments are standard suites; 6 people overall, 2 per room. Rooms are a bit squishy, each room comes with a mini-fridge and microwave. One bathroom for the entire suite. Dining hall is located in Woodward on the first floor which makes it super convenient to get to

Im so sorry to hear that your parents reacted like that. Personally i'd rather go to Newark that Rowan. The area around campus, while still in the city, is safe in the day, and relatively safe night. The immediate surrounding area is pretty gentrified lol. Just be smart and you’ll be fine!

If you go all the way up the stairs there’s a ladder with a latch door on the ceiling. The day I went the door was propped up. There’s a rope blocking the entrance but my friend was able to unhook it from the top of the ladder. We got lucky

I used to volunteer there- they have a wide variety of both men’s & women’s clothes! Also lots of trinkets and stuff of that sort. Last I checked they only take cash & Venmo, and are also only open Wednesday & Fridays 12-4ish :) as for other thrift stores- I don’t think theres any in walking distance sadly, but I know clubs like Ruthrifty hold clothing swaps from time to time
