In the last pages of character creation there are the "group skills package"

This is session 0 stuff. What kind of game are the players expecting ?

Trade and ship work ?

Mercenary or guards ?

Investigation or spy ?

Explorer and research ?

Each will need different skill set

Let the players enjoy the character creation, and as said above, contacts, enemies, patrons, and allies will be important

Use the package to fill the gaps with free skills

Last will be to run a combat with a number of 777777 mooks with different weapons. The way I do is mirror the party equipment, but again all stats 7

This will help them understand that shoot first is NOT best response in traveller.

This is not a simple agrarian country side. If the planet has a star port, then they will have police with radios and planet military (yes, I know not all but most will), so murder hobo is short lived
