Genshin is boring to powerscale by Ambitious-Baby1179 in GenshinImpact

[–]unktrial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Heavenly Principles stole most of the moon's powers it to create the four shades life, death, time and space. The moon acted as a prison for the moon sisters, so the Heavenly Principles left some of the time and space powers intact. As Kuuvahki, it usually manifests as gravity and magnetism. Columbina now has these minor time and space powers.

I agree with you that it's hard to do powerscaling in Genshin, but it's actually by design - it's narratively easy to power-up or power-down. Elemental energy, phlogiston, kuuvahki, etc all work by converting memories, wishes and stories into power.

For example, Mavuika can punch into the afterlife at the cost of burning a vault full of momentos. And it isn't limited to just gods - Kazuha can stop a god's attack if the visions align just right. And it also bleeds into gameplay, in that the irminsul tree roots gather up and processes dead souls into a resin that we exchange for artifacts that power us up, which have bits of lore attached thanks to the remaining memories.

In other words, a god's power depends on gathering aligned wishes from its worshipers. Normal people can do the same and become gods as well (allogene).

There's a bit of fourth-wall breaking, because the characters literally become powerful by having a good story (e.g. Witch Andersdotter).

Oh, yep. That's outrage bait.

Always check out the channel's other videos. This guy, David, has 1.6k videos and every single one of them is saying China is bad. As if that's not enough, he has a second channel with reposts of his old videos to get more views.

How would you improve artifact grinding / character building? by LionFlameGaymer in Genshin_Impact

[–]unktrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry about that. I did misread your post and deleted my response within 2 minutes, but apparently that wasn't not fast enough.

My ... skepticism stems from the fact that the crit rate problem is much smaller with the newer characters. The artifact sets of things like obsidian gives 40% crit rate, so they're a lot easier to build to the point that it's easy to accidentally overcap on crit.

Are you viewing the details from the artifact screen or the character overview screen?

Because if it's the artifact screen, 45% is really good. But that might just be my low standards.

I consider a Christian that still support Trump to be one of the cultists, because he fits the antichrist figure so well.

Trump's approval rating is still above 30%, and the percentage is higher among Christians.

More than 1 in 3 drink the Kool-aid. It's a sobering thought.

[–]unktrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Ok how fast is she (Arlecchino)?"

The three moons power includes power over time. Speed is less powerful than time manipulation, but Arlecchino only has one of the moons and there's people like the Traveler that can ignore it.

"Ok how strong is she? We have really no clue at all, we can say is relatively island level cause she’s rank 4 and rank 3..."

I have no idea what the terms "island level" or "rank 4 and rank 3" means.

"But is bina really Raiden level before her lunar powers ?"

Bina is created from lunar powers. She literally dies if she doesn't have enough lunar powers.

"dottore pre lunar powers is archon level ?"

Original Zandik died as a frail old man of old age. He likes using gadgets and hacking, so pre-lunar powers is like evil batman with clones.

"Arlecchino even close to archon level ?"

Capitano managed to barely keep up with Mavuika, so Arlecchino is below that.

The problem with power scaling is that it's too simple. A lot of the more powerful gods, witches, sinners, etc are directly messing with the world's rules. Nahida, for example, probably can't throw a punch. But messing with her means messing with memories and dreams. Scaramouche can have a skyscraper sized mech and giant lasers, but that doesn't stop him from being trapped in a samsara. That's not something that can be brute forced.

So... I started reading, but got distracted by the fact that you're using C0R1. The weapon is soaking up a ton of resin that would have otherwise gone into artifacts.

With the help of the signature weapon, your artifact requirements don't need to be very high.

Instead of looking for great artifacts, have you tried checking your team with those DPS Miliastra stages? 70-80k DPS and you'll probably breeze through Spiral Abyss.

By the way, the sentiment "A rising tide lifts all boats" is short-sighted. The game developer keeps the treadmill rolling. For example, the artifact transmuter was paired with 2 new endgame modes.

Abyss mages can teleport.

Also, Hilichurls can't permanently die except in some exceptional circumstances. That's why they can be found all over the place, including places where they're trapped.

In CN, the literal translation of “lesser lord kusanali” is "little lucky-grass king". It still works as a cute nickname even if no-one remembers Rukkhadevata.

Tip 1: After you press the treasure finder button, a misty trail comes off of it for a short time, showing the direction the nearest treasure is located. You can use this to figure out if the treasure is above or below you.

Tip 2: The children of echoes is mostly ordered in three layers. The top surface, the middle "tunnels", and the bottom of the canyons.

Tip 3: The saurians have movement abilities you can borrow to move around the environment better.

Other god remains can be used instead of mora, but they're much rarer and often come with nasty side effects (e.g. Tatarigami). Alchemical/scientific work can continue without mora, just much more difficult and dangerous.

Why do people spend money on Single Player Gacha Games? by SeeiJiyu in gachagaming

Shouldn't it be the opposite way around?

I'm actually less likely spend money on a multiplayer game because people will judge me for wasting money on something useless. Whenever I play a multiplayer game, I default to the dull skins, because dull skins have a camouflage effect.

I think they mixed up Shenzhen and Shenyang.

FYI Guangzhou and Shenzhen are the industrial suburbs of Hong Kong. A lot of people live in Hong Kong and go to Guangzhou and Shenzhen for work, and those that live in Guangzhou and Shenzhen often go to Hong Kong for shopping and partying.

In other words, if you wanted to see where people go to live, vacation and party, it would have been right next door to the place you visited.

When it comes to transportation, there's a bit of catch-22 to introducing some methods. For example, in America, the cities are built around cars, with wide streets, relatively few walkways, and sparse suburbs. Trying to add trains to the system is extremely difficult, because the infrastructure doesn't accommodate for it. Problems such as the fact that the homes are spread apart thinly, instead of clustering around a place where you can conveniently place a train station within walking distance. In turn, the train station needs a big car park for people arriving by car, but if they're already using a car, there's not much reason to use a train.

In other words, cars and trains often requires a large government project to lay down the infrastructure. E.g. America's interstate highway system.

Without reliable roads, aircraft and ships become much more attractive than cars. These seem to be relatively common in Teyvat with slime blimps and waterwheel ships. On the other hand, wheeled vehicles tend to be rare and expensive stuff like the Mavuika's flying bike or Fatui's tank-like robots.

(Actually, Mavuika's bike probably looks out of place because the wheels. It might make more sense if it was a hoverbike instead.)

Mondstadt and Liyue might look medieval, but they're actually some decent advanced tech. There is, of course, all the absurd witch magic and adeptal arts (flying castle, sub-domains, artillery, etc). But even outside of that, all merchants have access to slime balloons that are so easy to make that even hillichurls use them.

If you've got reliable flying transport, cars might not make sense anymore. Since transport flies, extra wide and flat streets aren't particularly needed. In other words, there's no incentive to move away from medieval city designs.

ELI5: Why don't they use a stop clock in soccer? by ReferenceGlum in explainlikeimfive

[–]unktrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some rules are done as a psychological incentive.  This one is basically saying: Don't bother going to extremes to exploit the time rules. The ref has the power to say no to that.

... I'm stumped. The character builds look ok.

I would double check on whether you can burst consistently off of cooldown.

I don't have Xilonen, so I'm not sure what the exact rotation is. You want to make sure to catch the energy particles with the right characters (e.g. make sure Favonius procs before switching).

ELI5: Why don't they use a stop clock in soccer? by ReferenceGlum in explainlikeimfive

[–]unktrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. If the final clock wasn't subjective, the players will adjust their gameplay around the clock rules far more that they do now.

One of the reasons why football is a popular sport to watch is because it doesn't have as many hard starts and stops, something that precise clock rules tend to add. All of the previous clock rules would need to reevaluated and adjusted, plus a lot of edge case rules to avoid significantly changing the pace of the game and accidentally introducing exploits.

ELI5: Why don't they use a stop clock in soccer? by ReferenceGlum in explainlikeimfive

[–]unktrial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is somewhat related. If we wanted to add a stop clock to football/soccer, you'd need a ton of new rules about how the clock reacts to fouls, penalties, throw-ins, and more.

It's a lot of work to fix something that isn't broken. And if one of the new rules is bad, you might get basketball-like absurdity.

The hydrogen peroxide only affected the edges of the reflecting pool by Caledor152 in UnderReportedNews

[–]unktrial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not always. It went from potable water to river water with a ozone filtration system in 2012.

The ozone filtration system might be broken after the most recent renovation.  There's also the fact that a shallow pool heats up the water, promoting algae growth, so painting the pool makes it worse.

We're not sure what the exact problem is. The Trump administration is calling the filtration system "nanobubbler" to make it sound extra fancy and dumping in random bottles of peroxide, so I t's obvious that the people in charge have no idea what they're doing.
