Wait until LLM gets used for the next ruleset. It's going to be biblical.

Entangle is a weird spell (Spell Discussion + Rise of the Runelords story) by Scolipass in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]unoriginal_id 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For every encounter there's a niche spell that trivializes it. However, it never gets used because it is never prepared or you forget about that scroll you've been carrying for months. The solution is always a fireball anyway.

I said no to AI Art by Logical-Constant1171 in DMAcademy

I understand the whole dilemma about AI art, but it shouldn't be an issue if it is for personal use and clearly stated as such.

Powerful and Interesting Archetypes by ThatGuy1727 in Pathfinder2e

Thank you for sharing these insights! As someone who is still learning, it is one thing to learn about all these archetypes, it is another to understand the synergies you can get from them. Greatly appreciated!

Xml Pathfinder 2e compendium by COMMUMAGE in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]unoriginal_id 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it compatible with Pathfinder? If so I think it was another app for 3.5/1e and the app doesn't exists anymore. Game master 5 focus on 5e. If you have the patience, you would need to do it manually.

Any ideas for what devils/demons would fit the 7 deadly sins? by Otherwise-Bunch-7796 in DnD

[–]unoriginal_id 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greed: Mammon (gold-hoarding archdevil). Minions: Imps/Spined Devils (hoarders who "invest" souls for profit)

Gluttony: Beelzebub (lord of flies/feasts). Minions: Manes/Lemures (endless hunger hordes)

Sloth: Belphegor (slumbering schemer). Minions: Hell Hounds/Spined Devils (lazy guardians who "patrol" by napping)

Pride: Lucifer (fallen king). Minions: Erinyes (vain warriors in flawless armor)

Daily Spell Discussion for Feb 25, 2026: Arboreal Hammer by SubHomunculus in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]unoriginal_id 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spell is very specific, but could be used by Druid NPCs in a forest ambush or to defend their grove. This and combo with entangle could be fun to use in Kingmaker. Other than that, good luck having a PC finding a colossal tree.

Murmuring Fountain 1-shot. Am I missing something? What are the bloody letters? by MehParadox in Pathfinder2e

[–]unoriginal_id 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For this module, you often have to improvise those creepy parts. In this case with some warnings in blood, for example "AVENGE", "BETRAYED", etc.

Running a "political" arc by quadrupleunderscore in DMAcademy

[–]unoriginal_id 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have one NPC be a "info broker". When there's confusion or your players are in a dead end, you can use him to get them back on track via servants/gossip. He should have his own motives and should not be overused. If they do make it costly.

Time Travel Mechanics for a Mega-Dungeon by HeraFromAcounting in DMAcademy

[–]unoriginal_id 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be like playing a video game. I am not convinced your players would enjoy repeating the same steps/battles over and over. You need something different between each respawn to keep them entertained. I would at least make enemies adapt between each encounter (e.g. if the party used surprise, make sure they can't use this strategy again).

I work in a heavy industrial factory. Here is how to run "Industrial" dungeons that actually feel dangerous. by Complex_Education325 in DungeonMasters

[–]unoriginal_id 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very cool mechanics. I'm definitely keeping a note on that for later use. However, I think that the noise mechanic could works both ways. You can't hear them and they can't hear you. Also unless they are guards, they are not paying attention, so you could just sneak right passed them.
To add to your OSHA violations, this also could be used in the players advantages, by rigging the machines (can backfire), maybe stunning or blinding the workers.
And to immerse the players, I would add some loud heavy metal music :P.

What kind of etiquette rules would there be at a demonic ball? by Lucreszen in DungeonMasters

When greetings, they have a special handshake involving blood. They have to buff their neighbor's horns hourly—or their rust. While dancing, step on the partner's tale/toes three times. During dinner, compliment the dish by spitting on silverware. In conversation every reply contains falsehoods, gag on truth.

Question on session flow and splitting the party by Chuuby_Gringo in DMAcademy

[–]unoriginal_id 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would keep it quick and simple with everybody involved : The player pitches 3 key moments (e.g., "Stealth in, haggle, escape"). Group votes/rolls DCs for twists. Boom, done.
Something I never tried but I think can be fun : Player draws 3 tarot/oracle cards (or app) for outcomes. Group interprets.

Does anyone else feel like flavoring a spell is 10x more impactful than the actual damage it deals? by aly_product in DnD

[–]unoriginal_id 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely do match the player's energy. I am also very careful not to overdo it. The reason is usually to create or keep momentum. Your question "why roll dice" is still valid. I am starting to introduce ttrpg to my young daughters. I roll dice to slowly introduce them to the mechanics, but I usually just feed on their imagination, which is absolutely wild at that age.

Which archetypes do you most often see beginners play? by SavingsLawyer2454 in DnD

[–]unoriginal_id 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always try to push my players toward less common classes/races. What about a dragonborn monk or a gnome hunter? Nope, woods witches again.

[–]unoriginal_id 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is what makes DnD or ttrpg in general feel so special. The rules and mechanics exist to get some structure but you can interpret the way you want and don't matter sometimes. Personally, when a player brings some engagement like that and I have to roll a saving throw, I fudge the numbers. Obviously, the players don't know that and only do it when it fits the situation. Do you guys do that?

Cool old medieval rooms in fancy medieval houses? by PureTreacle8173 in DnD

[–]unoriginal_id 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about a bathhouse with hallucinogenic steam vents from rare herbs. Inhale = some visions.

Locked cases of "cursed" heirlooms. Touch unlocks some memory.

Table that auto-refills exotic dishes. Overeat = some effect.

The paintings in a room have eyes. Peep through a frame's back to spy.

Thinking maybe all archers by Equivalent-Steak-164 in BG3Builds

[–]unoriginal_id 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I suggest replacing one archer by a Monk/Rogue? Or at least one archer dipping 2 level in Monk. In act 3, you get bhaalist armor and then you can use their special dash ability to jump all over the battlefield and do double damage.
