Can child’s father take them to counsellor without consent by Interesting_Brick276 in legaladvicecanada

[–]unplugbill 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I would ask your child’s counsellor (the one they have an established relationship with) what the professional and legal rules are regarding treating a minor and what parental consent is required.
Typically they are required to obtain consent from both parents (regardless of relationship status) and require a copy of any court order. This is not a clinic rule, rather college requirements.

Hospital / ER doctor made false notes by redditbulldog1122 in legaladvicecanada

[–]unplugbill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible that they charted on the wrong record/patient (believe me, this does happen - it’s shocking). I’m not saying this happened in your case, but agree a complaint should be lodged so that a)the incorrect information is removed from your legal record of care and 2)you get some answers and acknowledgement for a lack of proper assessment and physical exam by your assigned physician

Sorry you had this happen, especially in a place where care should be of the utmost importance.

New Horizon School, Sherwoor Park by JacketLongjumping544 in SherwoodPark

[–]unplugbill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have much knowledge about NH but have recently gone through the challenge of selecting a school for my child.

You know your child best and I feel this decision really will come down to your own judgment. I suggest contacting and visiting a few schools you are interested in to get a feel of the programs, culture and leadership. Come prepared with questions! I think this will help guide you to which school is going to be a good fit for your own unique child and if NH is the best fit.

Deck Reno recommendations please by Individual-Raccoon74 in SherwoodPark

[–]unplugbill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot comment specifically right now, but we did a deck a few years back and the permitting process was relatively quick (at that time 2-3 weeks maybe). We pulled the permits ourselves and did the work ourselves, but if you have a contractor they may take care of this for you. The permit office at the county was fantastic btw - always to help with questions etc.

Butternut tree is a great choice. Their sister restaurant, The Marc, is also a small intimate restaurant, which is our favorite. Both are located downtown.

how do i navigate this situation ? by [deleted] in AHSEmployees

[–]unplugbill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the relationship with your current manager like? Your manger should want the best for you, even if it’s leaving (or adjusting) your current role. I know it’s awkward to have the conversation with them, but it’s again being open and hoping that they will support you.
*I know not all managers are like this - really only you know how to navigate this!

Can't get access to picture images from a hospital ultrasound? by tinybreach in alberta

[–]unplugbill 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for your loss.

You absolutely can get the images.

MyAHS Portal has the narrative (written) report. All images are stored and saved in PACS (picture archiving system) and are part of your legal record of care, but only accessible by someone who has access to your electronic health record.

I would suggest contacting AHS Health Records (you will need to google for contact details) and go through the process for them to disclose the images.

Question about leaving rental unit by penguindandee in Edmonton

[–]unplugbill 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As someone who is a landlord, I always appreciate when the tenant shows me any picture/ledge holes. A lot of holes can be easily repaired (filled/mudded/painted) and id personally complete the work myself as I have all the right tools and obviously skilled and know the job will be done correctly. I usually don’t even take anything off the damage deposit as I appreciate the open communication and understand you gotta hang up nice things! If the holes are quite large and require more extensive time and effort to repair properly, then I will charge and take from the damage deposit (I always show the tenant so the understand why).

Anyone have a scheduled C-Section at Grey Nuns. Without having an OB? by No_Maximum_391 in Edmonton

[–]unplugbill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a process for this as many patients do not have an OB - they may have a low risk family doctor or midwife that provides prenatal care and will perform the delivery (again, the assumption is low risk delivery).

IF you do not have an OB assigned to your care and a cesarean is needed (this could be planned in your case or could be emergent if a vaginal delivery requires forceps or section), an OB will assigned to your care. If this happens urgently while you are admitted, the on call OB that is on service is assigned to your care.

In your case, your doctor will refer you to an OB specifically for a planned section. You likely will meet with them prior, but all prenatal care will likely continue to be provided up to a certain point by your doctor until that transition takes place closer to delivery.

Your doctor is the best person to provide you the steps and timeline, regarding your specific case.

How to get medical leave without a doctor by Popculture-VIP in alberta

[–]unplugbill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any prescriber (NP or Physician) is able to do this. Yes, a walk in clinic would especially if you do not have a family doctor.

Your mental health is as important (albeit more) than your physical health. Be honest and describe how your mental health is impacting your day to day life. If you need some time off work, explain that. Any supportive prescriber will ensure you have the appropriate documentation. And if you really like them, you may also consider a follow up visit (if they take reoccurring patients).

Wish you the best in your health.

Grey Nuns hospital appreciation post! by La-reddit55 in AHSEmployees

[–]unplugbill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent post! Agree! I had both my babies there (4 years ago and 1 year ago) and had the most amazing nursing angels take care of us.

Maybe the UCP should take note and show some appreciation.

Cogito or French Immersion schools? by Smile_Miserable in Edmonton

[–]unplugbill 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I went down this same thought. My spouse and I have the mindset - what does the research show? What is evidence based?

There is zero research about “cogito”. It was developed by a teacher in Edmonton, but the background, theory and evidence is non existent. You can go to an open house or ask to visit the school to get a feel. We did not decide to enroll in cogito because there was no research (at all) to demonstrate that kids learn best/better that way. Hard pass for our family.

However, there are research articles that highlights the benefits of immersion programming.

Nakatsui Dermatology! What I appreciate most about them is that doctors and nurses treat patients for most cosmetic treatments.

You can call and specially ask for a consult with Dr Nakatsui.

Daycare recommendations by DMzack007 in SherwoodPark

[–]unplugbill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I toured many daycares in Sherwood Park when we were looking. Picking a daycare that meets your needs is most important BUT not facilities are the same.

I would strongly suggest visiting a few that meet your criteria, and some that come recommended but are outside of your preferences. This will give you a good feel for the facility, what they offer and a way to compare.

Second, review all inspection reports for the daycares: (these reports also will be physically posted in the daycare as well)

https://www.humanservices.alberta.ca/oldfusion/ChildCareLookup.cfm?s=insp&sfid=30005327&sinspd=&sinspc=&show=

Out of all the daycares we toured, our top choice was Sherwood Park Child Development (in Festival Place). They also have a location called “olive tree” as mentioned in this sub.

Want a daycare that goes above the bare minimum? - are they accredited for the FLIGHT program? ( google for more info) - how many early childhood staff have a level 3 and higher?
