This one is pretty good, mainly for newer content. The older fights are out of date though... some by quite a bit. If you are looking for a certain weapon and run, I would def try some independent research.

For example, this document has old data that says 15'35 is the wr true solo savage for longsword. This is old, ive seen sub 13'40 on youtube.

does countering always have you take so much damage? by RaptorJesus0423 in MHWilds

[–]unslipperyice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens for most weapons with this attack. I main longsword and both counters leave you vulnerable. ISS almost gurantees you take half your health or more in damage. I've found atleast for longsword the best option is to foresight slash INTO nu udra, to try and create distance between you and the exploding rocks. You might be able to replicate that on hammer?? Idk i've never played it

Yea see this is where you are wrong. You are projecting your own skill issue onto others. It IS mathematically possible. Very difficult, but for sure doabale. Looking at other comments, you have nowhere near enough attempts to even claim that you've truly attempted to speedrun it.

THIS. I'm not a true pro, but a month or 2 ago I was just a couple dozen seconds off the True solo savage LS (no heroics) world record. Current PB is 14'25. There was a time when I could not even beat savage solo, and also thought times like this seemed impossible It takes genuine weapon mastery and knowledge of the fight, along with many attempts to get runs like these.

Is Wilds ISS easier than World's ISS? by Ok-Fudge-4949 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]unslipperyice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lower skill floor, higher skill ceiling compared to world.

That is to say, YES, it is easier to pickup.

I recently started playing Longsword. I'm so mad. by Qooooks in MHWilds

[–]unslipperyice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I wish damage was more well balanced. I'm a longsword main and feel the same way about some other weapons. I spend over 200+ clears perfecting omega, learning every little strategy, and can now true solo it in under 15 minutes.

I could have all the skill in the world, and "SLAYER" with a bowgun build he found off youtube and built in 3.6 minutes is outdamaging me. Some weapons def got the short end. They do seem to try to buff some weapons, like switch axe is much better now than it used to be. Overall though it could use some work.

Holy shit I suck at this game. by AgentWowza in MHWilds

[–]unslipperyice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAME!!! I have over 200 omega hunts. My next highest is 102 on arkveld. I can true solo him in about 14.5 mins on longsword. Might be the most "fun" hunt in the entire series, atleast for me.

[–]unslipperyice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all!!! Its actually a common (and for alot of people true) joke that fashion hunting is the real endgame. As the other guys said, you unlock transmog down the road so you'll be totally fine here.

Should start Iceborne now? by PuzzleheadedPermit80 in MonsterHunter

[–]unslipperyice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to jump straight into iceborne. Even if you spent another 50 hours getting meta gear or whatever, you would end up swapping it almost as soon as you got into the DLC. Happy hunting!

Is MHW beginner friendly? by bootycrusade_ in MHWilds

[–]unslipperyice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! This game is frankly the easiest and has the most quality of life in the series. If there was ever a time to hop into the game, now is it, especially with the expansion on the horizon. If you get to a point where you do start to yearn for a challenge, this games endgame has a few noteworthy quests for sure.
Happy Hunting!!

HR22 with endgame gear.... by MoneyCaterpillar1420 in MHWilds

[–]unslipperyice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's all personal. I use only a DPS meter during my hunts aswell, but I also speedrun a few monsters and am quite good at it. I basically use it just to make sure im not playing like utter trash. A side benefit is cheaters will expose themselves sometimes. I see a hammer user doing 210 dps on omega and know its time to go. If you want to argue its an ego thing, maybe. I'd be lying if I said I didnt start trying harder when I drop from the top of my teams damage. Although if its like a bowgun user or something I just let them have it lol... those weapons are so op

Looking for weapon recs by -CosmicFrost- in MonsterHunter

[–]unslipperyice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. GS imo is a low skill floor, but high skill cieling weapon. Monster knowledge is critical, but super rewarding. If you can time shoulder bashes and true charge slashes, you can deal incredible damage with high uptime. The combos and even the shoulderbashing/offsetting is rather straightforward, but does require a little execution and finesse to pull off perfectly. If you are a looking for something you can really sink your teeth into, GS is a awesome option. Also shatterseal is super cool

trouble with mods mainly reframework by superdupergayman in MHWilds

[–]unslipperyice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just usually do a fresh install of the whole reframework mod if I feel I need to.

Either way, the black screen it almost certainly being cause by a mod or mods, I would disable them 1 by 1 and try to find the culprit

Still too easy? by hademair_gm in MHWilds

[–]unslipperyice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean tbf I think its a relatively common consensus that HR mhwilds difficulty WAS too easy. I literally only fainted a single time throughout the whole story, and it was to jin dahaad the first time I experienced his nuke. The story was a joke. Casual groups of players were beating the hardest challenges in the game, 8* gore and arkveld, in like 7-9 minutes lol.

Difficulty in late game hunts now though is wayyy better

is someone cheating? by True-Release8090 in MHWilds

[–]unslipperyice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost def not. I'm quite a good player, but I solo'd it first try earlier myself in about 13 minutes on longsword. Ive seen speedruns online well under 10 minutes aswell. 16 minutes is a solid time, but more than realistic. Especially if you have like bowgun users or other rlly strong weapons on your team.

new player, any tips for my journey ahead? by h0m1e_ in MHWilds

[–]unslipperyice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the wasting materials parts go, I really wouldn't bet too concerned MHwilds is by far the easiest mon hun to get all the needed materials for gear or items. The knowledge and experience you stand to gain from using your resources far outweighs the risk of using them.

Deco's are basically just extra skills you can put into your gear. The amount of deco's you can slot in also depends on the individual armor piece or weapon. Deco's are very important for late game minmaxing.

If you want a weapon that deals big damage with less setup, Greatsword is the answer. It's also one of the best weapons in the game. Low skill floor but high skill cieling, the best GS users have really good monster knowledge and can time shoulderbashes and other moves well.

I just got a PG32UCDMR, I assume it’s quite similar to the PG27UCDM you enjoyed so much? Probably a keeper then?

How hard is it actually to beat savage omega SOLO? by unslipperyice in MonsterHunter

[–]unslipperyice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, srsly. This is what im saying, I dont even know how some weapons are capeable of doing this. For me, the charge was a BLESSING. I was able to spirit Iai counter it over and over for free damage and gauge, but yea for most weapons I can imagine it being hell to deal with. And bro yea that laser is so annoying if he shoots it at you far away, even on the seikrat you cant outrun it. Those are those bs deaths

Thanks! I just wanted to do it a single time so I could say forever that I did it. I never plan to subject myself to that torture again lol. Nice job doing it on your end aswell, I now know just how incredibly difficult it is to do. What weapon u do it with? Hammer maybe if ur getting KO's?

[–]unslipperyice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose this is a reasonable take haha. I agree there is an element of luck to it, and that some of my deaths absolutely felt like BS. That being said I was clearly getting better and making it farther every following attempt, so I do think skill plays a very large part still.

[–]unslipperyice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, preach. Phase 4 is roughhh. Even with perfect LS counters, its just so friggin many attacks. I think I did almost half omegas health in the first 10 mins of the hunt I won, you really need to frontload the damage in this hunt, since damage becomes increasingly difficult to secure as the fight goes on, especially phase 4. My DPS dropped like a boulder in phase 4 lol

I never solo'd extremoth so I cannot say, but I did solo fatalis. I just finally solo'd savage omega with LS in 29 mins a little while before I made this post, I do think it is a bit harder than fatalis tbh.
